This handsome 4-year-old American Staffy mix may take a little time to size up new people and unfamiliar situations, but patience pays off-once you're in his inner circle, you'll discover a playful, goofy, and loyal best friend.

Toucan Sam is looking for an adult-only home with experienced large-breed dog owners who can help him continue building confidence and show him that the world isn't quite as scary as it sometimes seems. Shelter life has been a big adjustment, so he'll need time to decompress and settle into his new surroundings. Once he does, you'll start to see the sweet, affectionate side of this long-legged lad shine through.

Toucan Sam would prefer to be the star of the show and is best suited as the only dog in the home. He hasn't been tested with cats, so any introductions should be approached carefully and thoughtfully.
