Flake is a stunning young senior lady with the most captivating golden-yellow eyes, a signature trait of her British Shorthair heritage. With her plush coat and gentle presence, she has an understated elegance that draws you in from the moment you meet her.
True to her breed, Flake is the perfect balance of affectionate and independent. She enjoys being near her people, quietly keeping you company as you go about your day, but she’s not one to demand constant attention or insist on being a lap cat. Instead, she offers companionship on her own terms—soft, steady, and deeply comforting.
Flake is easy-going, inquisitive, and adapts well to a calm home environment. She has a sweet nature and enjoys gentle interaction, making her a lovely match for someone who appreciates a feline family member with a more relaxed and self-assured personality.
Flake has absolutely no interest in sharing her humans, so she is looking for a home where she can be your one and only Queen of the Castle. In return, she will reward you with unwavering companionship and quiet devotion.
Medical notes
Urinary tract infection and crystals (struvites)
Flake had an episode of blood and infection in her urine. She was treated with a course of antibiotics which cleared the infection up. However, her urinalysis still showed that her urine was very alkaline and had some crystals (struvites) present. These cyrstals can cause trauma to the lining of the bladder and increases the chances of having a urinary tract infection.
Flake has since started on a diet that helps to acidify her urine and this limits the formation of these crystals. This is a complete diet formulation and it is recommended to be given as an ongoing diet.
Adoption details
Simply note the ID number and the cats name and visit our hostel at 200 Elder Street in Greensborough. Alternatively you can call the hostel on 8457 6500. We are currently open Mon-Fri 10am-4pm / Sat-Sun 10am-3pm.
You should bring proof of your current address and preferably photo identification such as your driving license. You can only adopt a cat for yourself we do not allow animals to leave with third parties. If you are wishing to adopt a cat as a present for someone, bring them with you as cats are individuals and bond with different people in different ways, the cat you may choose, may not choose your friend! It is also important to allocate time for adoption and we recommend you allow at least a couple of hours to get to know the cat and do the necessary paperwork.
When you visit you will get to meet the cat and as this is a very important decision for both you and the cat you choose we will want to ensure the two of you are compatible and that you understand what will be involved in taking the cat into your home.
We will want to be satisfied that you are prepared to be a responsible pet owner. Responsible pet owners at the most basic level, have their pets registered, micro-chipped and de-sexed unless they are registered breeders. They also understand the issues involved in being able to properly care and take responsibility for the welfare of their pets. Most Councils in Victoria have limits on the numbers of cats you may own without a permit. It is important to check with your Council if you already own the limit and obtain a permit for the extra cat before adoption. We will require to see your permit.
