About Ranger
Ranger — Clever, Active and People-Focused
DOB: 14 January 2025
Breed: Blue Cattle Dog / Smithfield type
Weight: 17 kg
Meet Ranger, 17 kg of active, clever, people-focused and affectionate blue cattle dog.
Ranger is still very much a youngster, with all the enthusiasm, curiosity and distractibility that comes with puppyhood — but he also has a terrific foundation already in place.
He is crate-trained, house-trained, and very happy to sleep in his crate overnight with just a little treat for encouragement. Once settled, he sleeps soundly for around 9 hours.
Ranger is a smart boy who already knows how to sit on command and will wait politely for his dinner. He is very food-motivated and will do just about anything for a treat, which makes him a highly trainable young dog with enormous potential.
He also walks nicely on lead and can heel beautifully — until, of course, something interesting catches his eye. Ranger is still a puppy at heart, so his adopter will need to keep building on his training with patience, consistency and positive reinforcement.
Ranger is dog-friendly and very people-focused. He loves engaging with his humans. He was also very well behaved at the vet, which is always lovely to see in a young, active dog.
The vet has described Ranger as a Smithfield, but to us he looks and behaves very much like a blue cattle dog — bright, loyal and full of promise.
He will suit an active home that understands working-breed dogs and is ready to keep his clever mind and young body well occupied. His ideal home will have good fencing, a canine pal to play with or humans around almost all the time. He needs a home where he'll be treated as an integral part of the family, with indoor privileges included.
Ranger is still young, still learning, and still growing into the wonderful dog he is destined to be.
