About Fritz
Please only apply for this greyhound if you have:
- A grassed yard for Fritz to do some Zooms!
- Children over 8 years
This big, beautiful and super affectionate boy will give out more love than you think is possible!
He is a goofy guy who just loves humans in any form, including and most especially, children. He is a big boy, at 37 kgs, so probably best in a home with larger children, as he can get excited and boisterous. His tail is like a stock whip!!
His party trick is to rest his head on your arm or shoulder, beam his lovely golden eyes into you and chatter his teeth to make sure you know he loves you. It always results in a kiss and cuddle in this house, so yes, he gets his way when it comes to affection. He has it down pat.
Fritz is lovely on leash once he is moving but can be strong to start off. So he is currently wearing a Halti for easier control by his foster Mum. He loves a walk and gets excited to walk with the other greyhounds but prefers a shorter walk of less than 1.5km.
Soft toy lover, lover of human touch, wonderful to handle, no problem with dremelling his nails, this guy has it all. He loves the clam shell and when hot, will position himself to plop his big body into the whole thing for a cool lie down, which is quite funny to witness!! Exposure in town has resulted in no problems with cars, trucks, trains and he is fine with thunder. Nothing bothers him, apart from small dogs as he is not keen on them.
Fritz does know his name well and responds to it and is learning ‘stay’ prior to going out the gate, he knows how to drop onto his bed with a hand and voice signal and has good recall from the yard. He loves a good zoom, so would benefit in a home with some space for running. He is fine in the car, either standing quietly or lying down. He is still needing assistance to get in, so more work is needed in this area. Fritz is a very clean dog who sleeps inside without problem. He will whimper and wander if he needs to go out to toilet.
Fritz would benefit from a home where humans are around most of the time, although he is fine to be left, he is currently living with a female greyhound and would appreciate another greyhound or large dog for company too.
[Note: Under Victorian Law greyhounds must be on-leash at all times in public areas, including in off-leash parks or ovals]
