Storm & Abigail ā She Taught Him the World Was Safe Again ā¤ļø
Stormās story began at an empty abandoned property during horrendous weather. There had already been so much rain, with days more forecast ahead, and there was this terrified little kitten trying to survive completely alone. I rescued him knowing there was no way he would make it out there on his own.
When I brought Storm home, he was absolutely petrified of humans. I never truly know what these animals have been through before they come into my care, but I always try my best to help them work through their fear and trauma. But Stormā¦ Storm was going to take time. He was terrified of every person, every movement, every sound. You could see how deeply fear had shaped him. Even safe hands felt frightening to him.
A few days later, while feeding another colony, a tiny little black kitten came running up to me asking for help. She was only about five weeks old. I picked her up and brought her home, and the moment I saw her properly, she looked so familiar. I realized she looked like three other kittens I had rescued days earlier from a horrible dangerous spot where they easily could have been run over. At first, I didnāt think they were related, but seeing her made me realize they likely were.
I named her Abigail. ā¤ļøšā¬
When I brought Abigail inside, I first tried introducing her to the kitten I believed was her sister, but it did not go well. The other kitten kept swatting at her, so I picked Abigail back up and walked away.
As I walked past Stormās crate, something happened that I will never forget.
Storm locked eyes with Abigail, and Abigail locked eyes with him. She immediately started softly purring while looking at him, and Storm became completely fixated on her. For the first time since rescuing him, there was something other than fear in his eyes. I slowly opened Stormās crate and carefully placed Abigail inside. She walked straight up to him without hesitation. They sniffed each other quietly, and instead of fear or uncertainty, there was this overwhelming calm between them. Abigail looked completely content beside him, and Storm looked at her as though he had finally found something safe in this world.
I remember sitting there silently, almost scared to move, watching them together.
And before long, they fell asleep curled up beside each other.
That was the beginning of a bond I cannot even fully put into words.
From that moment on, Storm relied on Abigail for everything. She became his comfort, his confidence, his emotional safety, and in so many ways, his keeper. It was as though she understood him completely. If Abigail ate, Storm would eat. If she drank water, he would drink. If she played, he would slowly join in. If she rested, he rested beside her. She guided him through life gently, patiently, and lovingly in ways no human ever could.
Whenever Storm became frightened, hissed, or overwhelmed, Abigail would immediately go to him. She would press herself close beside him, purring softly, placing her tiny paws onto him as if she somehow knew exactly how to calm his heart. She soothed parts of Storm that nobody else could reach.
And slowly, little by little, Storm started changing. The terrified kitten who once looked at every human with fear started learning what safety felt like. He started purring. He began allowing himself to be carried. He started trusting. Not because humans taught him first, but because Abigail did.
Even now, they are inseparable. They eat together, sleep together, play together, and constantly check in on one another. Abigail may wander off to explore or play, but she is always turning around to make sure Storm is okay before continuing on. And Storm watches for her too. They move through life together like two souls tied to one another.
Their bond is truly one of the most beautiful things I have ever witnessed.
Abigail is such a gentle, loving little soul , constantly purring, affectionate, playful, and full of warmth. Storm is sensitive, soft-hearted, and deeply connected to her. Watching these two heal, comfort, and protect each other has been incredibly emotional. Because of this, they absolutely must remain together. Separating them would break something so pure and special. Abigail didnāt just become Stormās friend, she became his safe place, his comfort, his keeper, and the reason he learned that the world was not always something to fear.
Storm survived the storm outside.
But Abigail saved him from the storm inside him.
Abigail is approximately 4 months old, and Storm is approximately 5 months old.
These two beautiful souls are looking for a forever home together, one where their incredible bond will always be protected.
Theyāre both desexed, microchipped, vaccinated, flea, wormed, viral tested. FIV/FELV negative.
Location: Strathfield and Surrounding Areas. Will transport up to an hour radius for the right home š”

Adoption details
Animals are desexed, microchipped, vaccinated, wormed and on heartworm prevention / and also FIV tested for cats where possible. They are not available for adoption outside NSW (except ACT). Please email adoptpar@gmail.com if you would like further information.
Dogs and cats are rehomed on two weeks trial to ensure that both the person adopting them and the rescuer are satisfied that the dog / cat / animal is happy and adapting well to their new home and this can be extended on request
Please be aware that Paws and Recover is run by volunteers who also work. We endeavour to answer enquires as quickly as possible.
