About Charko
🐾💕 Meet Charko 💕🐾
3kg of Chihuahua charm, zoomies, cuddles, and enough love to fill a house. ❤️
At 4 years and 7 months old, Charko has discovered that family life is pretty wonderful.
Soft beds.
Warm laps.
Toys.
Treats.
Cuddles.
Being told he's a good boy.
Having people who love him.
After retiring from breeding, Charko is thoroughly enjoying all the comforts that come with being part of a family and is now searching for a forever home where he can continue being spoiled, cherished, and loved exactly as he deserves. ❤️
Now let's address the Chihuahua-shaped elephant in the room... 😆
Yes, Charko can be nervous when meeting new people.
Yes, he is particularly wary of men.
And yes, he sometimes takes a little while to decide whether you're friend or foe.
Like many Chihuahuas, Charko likes to make his own decisions about people and prefers to get to know someone before handing over his heart.
He isn't the type of dog who throws himself into a stranger's arms on day one.
Instead, he likes to sit back, observe, assess the situation, and decide when he's ready to make friends.
The important thing to know is that Charko isn't aggressive.
He simply needs time.
Time to watch.
Time to learn.
Time to realise he's safe.
And when that happens?
His entire world changes.
The nervous little dog melts away and the real Charko appears.
The cuddly.
Funny.
Playful.
Ridiculously affectionate little shadow who wants nothing more than to be close to his people.
And trust us...
He is absolutely worth the wait. ❤️
Once Charko chooses you, you'll have a best friend for life.
A little dog who follows you from room to room.
A little dog who greets you as though you've returned from a six-month overseas holiday when you've actually only been gone for five minutes.
A little dog whose eyes light up every single time he sees you.
His foster family describes him as one of the most loving and affectionate dogs they have ever met.
He absolutely adores children and has been wonderful with kids ranging from young children through to teenagers.
In fact, Charko has chosen his foster sister as his special person and would happily spend every minute of every day in her room if given the chance.
We suspect he would be thrilled to find a forever home with a teenager looking for a devoted little cuddle buddy.
He thrives on affection, companionship, and being included in family life.
When he's not cuddling, Charko is busy entertaining everyone with his hilarious zoomies.
This tiny boy loves toys and regularly races around the house proudly carrying them from room to room.
His excitement levels are truly something special.
When his people come home, he produces the cutest little grunting noises imaginable and bounces around with pure joy.
It's impossible not to smile.
At night, Charko sleeps under the covers beside his favourite teenager because, despite his brave personality, he firmly believes 3kg dogs should never be cold.
Ever.
He also enjoys curling up on the couch, snuggling under blankets, and generally making himself comfortable wherever his people happen to be.
Charko walks beautifully on lead and enjoys getting out and about. He has done wonderfully around dogs of all sizes and, after a brief introduction, happily coexists with everyone from Cavaliers to Staffies.
He would be perfectly happy living with another friendly dog, but he would also be more than content as an only dog soaking up all the attention for himself.
Charko has not been cat tested, so we are unable to say how he would respond to feline friends in the home.
Like many ex-breeding dogs, Charko is still building confidence in the world around him. He is continuing to progress with his toilet training and is making fantastic improvements every day.
What Charko needs now is a family who understands that trust is something earned, not rushed.
A family who will allow him to settle at his own pace.
A family who won't expect perfection from day one.
A family where someone is home more often than not, whether that's a work-from-home household, shift worker, retiree, or simply someone who enjoys having a loyal little companion by their side.
Because underneath that initial nervousness is an extraordinary little dog with a huge heart.
A dog who loves deeply.
A dog who forms incredible bonds.
A dog who will reward your patience a thousand times over.
If you're willing to give Charko the time he needs, you'll discover one of the sweetest, funniest, most devoted little companions you could ever hope to meet.
And once he loves you...
He'll never stop. ❤️
🐾 Tiny dog.
💕 Massive heart.
😆 Zoomie champion.
🥹 Professional blanket burrower.
❤️ Worth every second of the wait.
