Some dogs fill your home with endless energy.

Others fill your heart with peace.

Bonnie is the second kind.

At just 3 years and 2 months old, this beautiful Cavalier x Beagle has the sweetest, gentlest soul. She came into our care through absolutely no fault of her own after her previous family, with seven children and another baby on the way, made the incredibly difficult decision that they could no longer give her the time she deserved.

Now, Bonnie is searching for a family who will treasure the quiet companionship she so effortlessly gives.

If your idea of the perfect day is curling up on the couch with a loyal best friend beside you, Bonnie is already dreaming about joining you.

She is one of those rare dogs who simply settles into your life. Calm, affectionate and wonderfully easy-going, Bonnie is happiest snoozing on the couch, following you from room to room, or enjoying a leisurely stroll around the neighbourhood. She’s not demanding, she’s not noisy—she just wants to be wherever her people are.

And while she spends most of the day looking like she’s conserving every ounce of energy… The moment dinner is served, she transforms!

Her little happy dance for breakfast and dinner is guaranteed to make you smile every single day. Watching her bounce around in excitement is one of her foster family’s favourite parts of the day.

Bonnie absolutely loves her daily walks too. Like any Beagle, she enjoys stopping to investigate all the wonderful smells along the way, but she settles nicely on lead after the initial excitement and is a lovely walking companion.

She’s fantastic with other dogs of all sizes and would happily share her home with a canine friend, although she certainly doesn’t need one to be happy. Bonnie would be just as content soaking up all the love and attention as an only dog.

She has been wonderful around young children, is incredibly quiet around the home, and only occasionally lets out a bark if someone arrives at the front door.

When bedtime rolls around, Bonnie has her own adorable routine. Around 8pm she’ll quietly head to the bedroom door to let everyone know she’s ready for bed. In fact, she’s such a fan of sleeping in that getting her out of bed in the morning can sometimes require a little encouragement!

Bonnie sleeps on her foster family’s bed, has impeccable house manners, and has been a perfect lady at the groomer, making grooming appointments an easy experience.

Like all dogs, Bonnie has a couple of little quirks. She has a sensitive tummy, which has been beautifully managed on her current diet, and she can be a curious explorer if given the opportunity. If a door or gate is accidentally left open, her Beagle nose may convince her there’s an adventure waiting! Because of this, Bonnie will need a home with secure fencing and a family who are mindful when entering and leaving the house. Ongoing recall training will also help build her confidence and responsiveness over time.

These are simple management strategies, and in return you’ll gain one of the sweetest, easiest companions you could ever hope to meet.

Bonnie isn’t looking for excitement.

She isn’t looking for adventure.

She’s simply looking for someone to share the couch with, enjoy daily walks beside, and love with her whole heart.
