About Beau
Why you’ll love Beau:
Beau is a sweet, affectionate little boy who loves nothing more than being close to his people. He'll happily follow you from room to room and settle beside you on the couch for cuddles. At night, he's curling up in bed with you, though he also sleeps well in his own bed and is fully crate trained.
One thing to know about Beau - he's an early riser when it comes to affection and may greet you with a few face licks in the morning to remind you it's time for attention and love. If left in his own bed in another room or in his crate, he will happily wait until you get up. His current carers usually rise between 6 and 7 am.
Beau hasnt had the best start in life, so he can be an anxious little soul at times. With patience, love and a calm environment, he settles beautifully, though this may take a couple of weeks while he learns to feel safe and secure.
Beau would suit a quieter household or a home with teenagers rather than young children and has been very content living with an almost-retired couple. He is not suited to apartment living.
Beau gets along well with cats and has enjoyed playful moments, including games of tag. While he can be OK with other dogs, he would be best suited to a home with a calm, confident dog who can help show him the ropes and provide companionship while he settles in. He is currently with a well-behaved and well-trained labrador.
On walks, Beau does well overall but can be reactive to other dogs. We are currently working on this and his future family should be prepared to continue the training and support he has had so far.
Beau will need a secure yard where he won't be exposed to neighbouring dogs, as this can make him feel anxious and overwhelmed. He must also be an inside dog and part of the family, as he thrives on companionship, closeness, and feeling safe with his people.
Beau copes well when left alone and will happily greet you with a wagging tail when you return home. However, while he is settling into a new home we would not recommend leaving him alone for long periods at first.
Beau is looking for a patient, understanding family who will give him the time he needs to build trust and confidence. In return, he will offer endless loyalty, affection, and companionship.
Please do not apply to adopt Beau unless you are prepared to put in the time, patience, and ongoing work he needs to continue building his confidence and feeling secure in his new home.
If you would like to meet Beau, please send us an informative email about yourself, lifestyle, other pets, etc. to sasrescue@gmail.com so we can see if you and Beau are a good match
