About Bluey
Meet our Bluey a three year old German Shepherd who is in need of a caring home.
This young shepherd was abandoned and found himself in a Sydney Animal Shelter. His former owner never came to collect him and after routine tests it was found Bluey was heart worm positive. His former owner had failed this shepherd by providing him with the necessary heart worm tablets to ensure Bluey would be safe from this condition.
Bluey will soon be commencing the required treatment to treat the heart worm which is a series of injections followed by rest and gentle exercise. This treatment will be fully covered by German Shepherd Rescue New South Wales.
Even though Bluey has contracted heart worm he is a loving dog who we classify as a “leaner” as he needs to be close to you and gently leans into your leg.
He will require an experienced German Shepherd owner who will place structure in his life and maintain boundaries to help him develop confidence in his new environment with human interactions.
Bluey is currently available for adoption in NSW, ACT, Queensland and Victoria. If you're interested in making him a cherished member of your family, you'll need to drive with your loved ones to meet him. Should he, for any reason, not be the perfect fit for your family, you would be responsible for either bringing him back into our care or helping us rehome him from your home.

Medical notes
Bluey is currently under-going heart worm treatment and this will be over a period of three months. These costs will be completely covered by German Shepherd Rescue NSW.

Adoption details
To apply for a dog you can either click on the Enquire about the dog and we will send you an application form, or you can go to our website and complete an online form.

We have an Adoptions Manager who screens all prospective candidates as to their suitability to adopt a German Shepherd Dog.
We try to contact every one by phone but if that isn't successful we will email our application form to you, which needs to be completed and returned, or you can call us back and we can chat and complete for you. We will also ask you to provide photos of your yard and fencing to enable us to see where the dog will be kept and that they have areas of shade and shelter.
All our dogs are ready to go to their new home, so when you enquire about a dog you must be in a position to take them into your home. We are unable to hold a dog while you fix your fences or go on holiday, etc.
The successful candidate who adopts one of our dogs is provided with an information kit, ongoing support, training and advice on all aspects of feeding, training and general assistance to ensure both the new owner and our rescued dog settle into their home.
This pet has been adopted and found love with its new family.
