About Rocco
Rocco is a very smart cookie. He loves training and is keen to please. He knows several commands such as ‘up’, ‘down’ and ‘ping-pong. He was quick to learn touch training and jumps in and out of the car like a pro. He loves to spend time interacting and playing with his foster carer and any visitors. He prefers human company to canine so would be happy as an only dog.
Rocco currently enjoys two 20 minute walks each day but is up to longer when you have time. He walks well on lead but does like to stop and sniff so you may not get far. He is still getting used to seeing other dogs on his walks but is easy to keep moving. He does get excited when a human stops and wants to say hello. He will enthusiastically greet them and solicit a pat, scratch or cuddle. His big brown eyes and snaggle tooth smile do win over most passers by.
Rocco enjoys the car and rides well, either napping on the back seat or doing some rubber necking to check out the scenery. He would love to come on adventures with you on the weekend.
At home Rocco will like to be close to his humans much of the time but happy to keep check on you from his bed or the couch. Otherwise, in true greyhound style he will nap much of the day. He will also have his moments of play and perform some zoomies for you and play with his toys. Rocco also enjoys lucky-mats with peanut butter or yoghurt
When you have time to spend some family time on the couch he enjoys a cuddle and will remind you he needs more pats or cuddles with a not so subtle nudge, a paw on your lap or sticking his snoot under your arm.
Rocco can he a little jumpy when excited so may not be the right fit for a family with small children or elderly folk.
He also has not spent much time home alone so would appreciate folk who are home more often than not.
Rocco is a big smoochy loving and friendly boy who will bring joy to his new home.
Suitable for a home as the only dog or a suitable companion dog.
Suitable for a home with children over ten.
Not suitable for a home with a cat or pocket pets
Would prefer a home where his humans are home much of the time.

Thinking about adopting?
We’d love to help you find your greyhound match!
To get started, we’ll ask for a bit of information about your home and lifestyle on our application form. This helps us make sure we match you with a dog that suits your household and sets both of you up for success.
Many greyhounds come from racing kennels where they’re used to having other dogs around. Some can struggle being left completely alone, which can lead to signs of separation anxiety like barking or chewing.
Because of this, we usually look to rehome greyhounds into homes where they’ll have company - either human or canine - and not be left alone for more than four hours on a regular basis. If that’s not your setup right now, don’t worry as we’re happy to chat about options such as dog walkers, doggy daycare, or taking your greyhound to work.
Our Adoption Checklist:
To be considered for adoption, we ask that you have:
A secure, fully fenced yard (minimum height around hip height)
A home where the dog is allowed to sleep inside at night
A routine that doesn’t leave the dog home alone regularly for long periods (more than 4 hours) without people or another dog for company
If you’re not sure whether you tick every box, please still apply! We’re happy to have a conversation and see if we have a greyhound who might be the right fit.
Please fill in as much detail as you can as there’s no word limit on any question.
