🐾 Meet Gem – The Goofy Girl with a Heart of Gold 🐾

Gem is a friendly, affectionate young dog with a playful spirit and an ever-growing collection of hilarious quirks. She's full of enthusiasm for life and loves being involved in whatever her people are doing.

She enjoys exploring, running, car rides and spending time with her family, but she's just as happy curling up for a nap across your legs once she's had her fun. Gem is crate trained, toilet trained, walks nicely on lead, has some recall, and knows how to sit and wait politely for her meals.

As she's settled into foster care, Gem's cheeky personality has really started to emerge. She loves gently "nibbling" her favourite people and soft jumpers as a sign of affection, proudly wears her jackets (even if she's still trying to work out why they don't stop the rain altogether!), and has developed a very entertaining habit of copying other dogs. Her latest attempt? She noticed they bark to ask for a ball to be thrown... except Gem isn't interested in balls, so she simply barks and looks expectantly, convinced a toy should somehow appear by magic! She also hasn't quite mastered jumping onto the couch, preferring to clamber up instead, which only adds to her charm.

Gem is friendly with other dogs and has previously lived with cats. She enjoys canine company, although she can become quite excited when meeting new dogs. She is also friendly with people (including kids), though sometimes a little cautious when first introduced. Because of her size and exuberance, she may accidentally knock over very young children or frail adults.
Gem will need an active home committed to continuing her training and giving her plenty of exercise and enrichment. She also has a strong prey drive around loose poultry, so she cannot be placed in a home with chickens or other small livestock unless they are securely separated.

This lovable goofball is still learning about the world, but she's blossoming into a wonderful companion.
