About Tigger
Equal parts sweet boy, snack enthusiast, toy lover, and lovable weirdo, Tucker is ready to find a home of his own.
Tucker is a young Kelpie, but not the kind people usually expect. He's not a frantic, go-go-go working dog bouncing off the walls looking for a job every second of the day. Instead, Tucker is gentle, thoughtful, and happiest simply being near his people. When he first came to us as a stray, he was heartbreakingly skinny and unsure of the world around him. Nobody came looking for him, and for a while it seemed like life had taught him to be cautious. Watching him slowly gain confidence has been something really special.
Tucker bonds deeply with the people he trusts, but he does need gradual introductions to new people. A handful of tasty treats goes a long way in helping him realise new faces aren't so scary, and once you've earned his trust, you'll discover the affectionate, goofy boy hiding underneath. He's happiest when he can quietly hang out beside his favourite humans, soaking up their company in his own sweet way. Because Tucker can still be a little sensitive, he'd do best in a home with secondary school-aged children or older who can respect his gentle nature and let him build confidence at his own pace.
If there's one thing Tucker understands completely, it's food. This boy LOVES treats. After spending who knows how long wondering where his next meal would come from, every snack is still the greatest moment of his day. He'll sit politely, offer his adorable little "beg" pose with complete sincerity, and his treat-catching skills are genuinely elite-a solid 10/10 every time. Better yet, treats are a fantastic motivator out on walks, and Tucker is happy to focus on his person and ignore dogs in the distance when there's a tasty reward involved.
Tucker has also discovered the joy of toys, and it's been wonderful to watch his playful side emerge. Whether he's carrying one around proudly or enjoying a game with his favourite people, seeing him simply get to be a carefree dog feels like a little victory every time.
When it comes to other dogs, Tucker has made great progress. He enjoys meeting calm, respectful dogs while on lead and is happy to head out for walks alongside them. He's just not the kind of dog who enjoys chaotic, off-lead play sessions or boisterous dog parks, so he'll be looking for a home that understands his preference for calmer social interactions.
Tucker is, in every possible way, just... a dog. The doggiest dog to ever dog. Loyal, funny, awkward, sweet, and full of quiet love waiting to be shared with the right person. He has so much potential to absolutely thrive in a calm, patient home where he can finally settle in, keep building his confidence, and know he's safe forever.
Whoever takes Tucker home won't just be adopting a dog. They'll be giving a once-forgotten boy the safe, loving future he's always deserved-and gaining a wonderfully gentle companion in return.
Come meet Tucker today.
