About Sootie
Sootie is a beautiful Irish Wolfhound mix who is an energetic boy that loves his walks and cuddles equally.
His carers have been calling him Sooky Sootie because he really is a just a big sook.
Sootie is dog friendly, but he would enjoy being the only dog or sharing a house with a female dog of a similar age and size.
He would also suit a household with older kids, as he doesn’t quite know his size.
Sootie is protective of the house and will bark when someone walks by. He responds well to a clap, followed by “leave”.
Sooties Strengths:
- Sootie is very responsive to commands including “sit, lay down, shake” and he is getting better every day at “stay” and “come”.
- Sootie knows “on your bed” and will go and lay on his bed - staying on his bed is still a work in progress 😃.
- Sootie will sit and wait for “good boy” before eating his food.
- Sootie is very affectionate and loves being around his humans.
- Very friendly with his foster dog sister Missy and has socialised with other dogs
What Sootie is working on:
- Sootie is learning to walk with a halti
- Sootie can be reactive when on a lead
Sootie requires 1.5m (5ft) to 1.8m (6ft) fences.

No known pre-existing conditions.
Adoption details
We list animals for adoption on Pet Rescue as well as on our own Animals-in-Need-Brisbane website. We talk with people who contact about an animal to see what their needs and situation are. Our emphasis is on getting the right animal for the people and the right people for the animal. If everyone's needs are met things usually work out well.
If the situation sounds good we arrange a meeting. If all goes well we let people try the animal out for a couple of weeks to ensure that everyone is happy.
We keep records of all adopters, follow up to ensure all is well and undertake to take back any animal if circumstances change.
