About Pearl
Hello there! I'm Pearl, and I'm officially accepting applications for my forever family.
APPLICATION PROCESS APPLIES FOR PEARL
PLEASE COMPLETE THE BELOW APPLICATION FORM
https://forms.gle/k5Tu2uYTfEqGSBr17
The first thing to know about me is I am an old girl who has health conditions and my family must be prepared for half yearly vet checks to ensure I am staying as healthy as I can be for 14 years of age.
Please ensure you read everything below and ensure you are capable and willing to take on my old age problems.
My medical requirements and aliments:
• Dental Disease (Scale & polish performed 27/05/2026 with extractions of infected teeth) Keeping on top of prevention is key to prevent more from being infected.
• Chronic eye issues - Hyperpigmentation of the corneas, related to dry eye. I need eye lubricating drops at least our times a day as I cannot produce tears to lubricate my eyes myself. We recommend a human product called "Viscotears eye Gel" which can be purchased at any chemist and costs approx. $10 for a tube of 10g gel.
• Developing Nuclear sclerosis or cataracts - no intervention required but monitoring for pain. This in turns means I am almost fully blind and will continue to lose my eyesight.
My Ideal Home:
• Familiarity and understanding of my breed traits would be highly valued.
• I want to be part of the family indoors - not left outside without interaction.
• A good-quality dry food diet will help support my dental health.
• Regular grooming and brushing will keep me looking and feeling my best.
• Most importantly, I'm looking for lots of love and attention from my family.
• I'm used to a quiet, mature household and would love a similar environment.
• I'm looking for a family who will cherish and care for me throughout my golden years.
• I am happy to share my home with another mature and gentle natured doggo, I do not have much tolerance of bigger & exuberant dogs.
• With a slow and thoughtful introduction, I may be able to live with a gentle, quiet cat.
My Paw-some Perks:
• I'm a happy girl with the cutest little wiggle-butt when I'm excited.
• I'm highly food motivated, which makes training lots of fun and helps me learn quickly.
• I absolutely love attention, cuddles, hugs, kisses and head scratches, and I'm quite partial to snoozing on the couch with my humans
Training & Support Needs:
• I'm not housetrained yet, as I haven't previously been allowed inside, so I'll need guidance and consistency to learn.
• I can feel anxious when left alone in the backyard and may become vocal, barking or whining. A home where I can spend plenty of time indoors with my people, have lots of company, and be provided with enrichment toys or treats when alone would suit me best.
• A quiet home with no young children (under 12) would suit me best, as I'm easily startled and need a calm environment where I can feel safe and secure.
Please Note: You'll only be able to meet Pearl if your application is approved. Successful applicants will be invited to the shelter for a meet-and-greet, and any dogs currently in the home must attend as well
