About Shelley
Introducing Shelley
Shelley came into AWL care from a colony of cats in Western Sydney. Over time, she has decided that life on the streets was not for her and has slowly adjusted to the safety and comfort of indoor living. Her coat of many colours is devine along with her tail containing lavender, a grey tinge mixed with brown & beige. Just beautiful!
Shelley will need an experienced cat owner who understands that there will be a settling-in period before she feels completely relaxed. She is not a “walk in and own the house on day one” kind of girl — she needs patience, understanding, and someone who can read feline body language.
The good news? Once she trusts you, Shelley is an absolute delight who truly deserves a wonderful life after her rough start. Her dedicated foster carer has seen fantastic progress. There were a few hisses on day one, and by day two Shelley was already weaving around her legs at dinner time. (Food is definitely the way to her heart!)
With other cats, Shelley is quite unbothered. She doesn’t seek drama or create it. She calmly observes, strolls past with a slightly sassy stride, and finds a comfortable spot to supervise the world outside. She coexists peacefully without needing to be the centre of attention and we felt she prefers human company however after a period of time Shelley started to play with the two others cats in the household.
We kindly ask that applications are made thoughtfully. Please do not apply simply because Shelley is a Ragdoll cross. She must go to an experienced cat home. First-time cat owners are not suitable for Shelley.
If you believe you can offer Shelley the patient, understanding home she needs, please complete the pre-adoption application with as much detail as possible about the home environment you can provide. If you are considered a suitable match, our Welfare Officer will be in touch to arrange a meet & greet.
Best with Children Aged: adult household only

STUFF YOU NEED TO KNOW: I will come desexed, vaccinated (1st F3) and microchipped and will have up to date worm and flea treatments.
ADOPTING ME: You must be able to provide me with a loving long term and safe home. I would be fine in an apartment as long as I didn't have free run of the balcony if it wasn't fully enclosed. Please ensure your house or apartment can contain a cat inside (ie fly screens etc).
Please remember that I have thought seriously about taking you on and when you take me home, I am committing to you for life. So, I hope you have thought seriously about this and are likewise planning on committing to me.
ABOUT YOU: Given you know all about me, my foster parents would like to know something about who my new parents are going to be. They have rescued me and have given me a lot of care and love. I know they love me and therefore want the best for me.
ABOUT US: AWL Western Suburbs branch wants to promote adoptions of cats from our foster carers & pounds. If you would like to help us, please feel free to contact us and find out how you may assist, including being a foster parent.
All adoptions will require a Pre-adoption application form completed and returned prior to a meet & greet with our cats. Please note that several people may be applying for the same cat so we need time to review all applicants. We do not re-home to the first to apply, we re-home to who best suits the needs of the cat or kitten. All applications will be considered individually and approval will be at the discretion of the AWL NSW Branch Representative, with their decision being final.
