Laika

Laika is a beautiful little tortie survivor with a gentle soul and a story that could have ended very differently. At around 6 months old, this sweet girl is still very much a kitten — playful, curious, and learning every day that people can be kind.

She can be a little shy at first, but Laika settles quickly and absolutely adores people once she feels safe. From children to adults, she thrives on gentle affection and companionship. She also gets along wonderfully with other cats, doesn’t mind dogs, and would fit beautifully into many different types of loving homes.

Laika was found dumped in the bush, terrified and alone. When she was scanned, the finder was heartbreakingly advised to simply dump her back where she had been found. Thankfully, we were there to step in and give her the chance she deserved.

And thank goodness we did — because poor Laika was suffering from severe cat flu that had clearly gone untreated for far too long. The infection caused permanent scarring to one of her eyes, leaving her vision slightly compromised on that side. Despite this, Laika lives a completely happy and normal life. She is not in pain, doesn’t require ongoing treatment, and absolutely does not let it slow her down.

What Laika does need now is what she should have had from the very beginning: safety, love, and a forever family willing to cherish her exactly as she is.

Laika’s ideal home includes:

🐶 Calm dogs are perfectly fine
👧 Wonderful with children and adults alike
🏡 Indoor-only home where she’ll always be safe and protected

Laika has survived abandonment, illness, and neglect — yet she remains gentle, affectionate, and full of love to give. Now it’s finally her turn to be somebody’s treasured little girl forever.
