Meet Layla, a sweet little Dachshund puppy with a big personality tucked into a little body.
Layla’s foster mum says she is playful, friendly and loves to be with you. She is just a sweet little girl who enjoys attention, companionship and being part of whatever is happening around her.
Dachshunds are famous for their charm, loyalty and confidence. They were originally bred to be brave, busy little dogs, and Layla is likely to grow into a bright, affectionate and character-filled companion.
Dachshunds generally love being close to their people, and Layla already seems to be that kind of puppy. She will be happiest as a much-loved indoor dog, involved in family life and treated as the precious little companion she is.
Like all puppies, Layla will need patience, routine and training. She will still need help with toilet training, lead manners, socialisation, confidence-building and learning the house rules. Positive, gentle training will help her become a happy, well-adjusted adult dog.
Because of her breed, Layla will need sensible care as she grows. Dachshunds have long backs and short legs, so her new family should be mindful about jumping on and off furniture, rough play, stairs and being handled carefully by children.
Layla would be best suited to a home that understands companion dogs and is ready for all the joys and responsibilities of raising a puppy. She may suit a family, couple or individual, provided she is given time, companionship, training and a safe environment.
She is not a dog to be left outside or treated as a backyard pet. Layla is looking for a home where she will be part of the family — loved, protected and included.
Layla is being adopted under ARK’s deferred desexing program. The cost of her desexing is included in her adoption fee, subject to the terms and conditions of the Deferred Desexing Adoption Contract. Her adopter must ensure she is desexed within the required timeframe, she must not be bred from under any circumstances, and proof of desexing must be provided to ARK once the procedure has been completed.
Layla is also available for interstate adoption. ARK is happy to assist approved adopters with obtaining transport quotes and making suitable travel arrangements.
Layla is a darling little puppy with a lifetime of love ahead of her. She is looking for a home that will treasure her, teach her gently, and help her grow into the confident, happy little dog she is meant to become.

Dogs:
(1) The first step is to complete the online adoption application form at https://southerndownsark.com.au/apply-to-adopt/ Please answer all questions and include photos of your yard and fencing.
(2) All applications will be considered by our Adoption Team, following which a "meet and greet" will be offered to the top-ranking applicant.
(3) If the “meet and greet" is successful, the applicant may adopt the dog and take him or her home the same day.
(4) For successful interstate applicants, different arrangements may apply and will be negotiated on a case-by-case basis.
Cats:
