IVY

Ivy will be turning 3 years old very soon and we are hoping that her birthday is spent with her very own forever home

Ivy is a Golden Retriever x Border Collie, female, with the Border Collie traits very much shining through — clever, cheeky, chatty, loyal and always thinking.

Ivy had a difficult start to life before coming into our care, so it takes her time to trust and feel safe, especially with men. The wonderful news is that she has come such a long way in foster care, has grown in confidence, and is learning that the world — and the people in it — can be kind.

She is a sweet, loving little lady with the cutest freckles on her nose, but she is also a determined, dominant pocket rocket who needs an experienced owner with very good dog handling skills. Ivy responds beautifully to clear boundaries and structure, and she needs someone who can gently but confidently be “top dog” so she feels secure.

Ivy must be an only dog and is not suited to homes with cats or pocket pets. She has a strong prey drive, guards her food, can be barky, and while she loves children and is gentle with them, we are looking for a home with kids aged 15+ only.

For the right person, Ivy will be an incredibly loyal and loving companion. She is not the right fit for every home, but for someone patient, experienced and committed, she is very, very special.

UPDATE -

Well… my birthday came. And it was lovely — my foster family made sure of that. But I'm still here. Still waiting. Still hoping.

I'm not going to say it doesn't sting just a little. I am three now, after all, and a girl can only wait so patiently! But my foster carer says I am a gorgeous girl with so much love to give — and she tells me every single day that my person is out there. So I believe her.

I still need all the same things — an experienced dog handler, a home where I'm your one and only, no cats or other pets, and kids 12 or older. I take a little time to settle in and give my trust, but once I do? The cuddles, the smooches, the unwavering loyalty — I have been told I am absolutely worth it.

And here's something I really want you to know: RGRV won't just wave you off at the door. They will be right there with you, supporting you and me both as we find our feet together. No one has to figure this out alone.

So, if you've seen my post before and wondered "could that be me?" — I'm asking you to wonder again. Maybe a little louder this time.
