This quirky boy is truly one of a kind. Bird absolutely lives for one-on-one time with his humans. Whether he’s making you laugh with his oddball antics, flopping dramatically onto a fluffy bed, or shadowing you around the house like your very own curly-haired assistant, life with Big Bird is never dull.

Bird thrives when life is predictable and structured. He loves routine, clear boundaries, and knowing what’s to be expected. He has already had some training to help him with his “me time,” is crate trained, and genuinely enjoys having his own safe space to relax and decompress. His future family will need to continue this structure and understand that Bird isn’t the kind of dog who walks into a new home and instantly settles overnight.

Big Bird takes a little while to find his groove in new environments. He needs patient, understanding humans who are willing to let him adjust at his own pace and build trust naturally. Once he settles in, though, you’ll discover an incredibly affectionate, hilarious, and deeply loyal companion.

Bird would be happiest in a home where someone is around most of the time, ideally a work-from-home household where he can lounge nearby, supervise your every move, and sneak in as many cuddles as possible. He is not suited to apartment living and would do best in a home with space to stretch out and enjoy a calmer environment.

When it comes to exercise, Bird is very much a “couch potato with random bursts of nonsense” kind of guy. Daily walks help keep him balanced, and he absolutely loves a goofy play session with his people before returning to his favourite activity: dramatic lounging.

He walks well on lead, has co-existed successfully with other dogs, and could enjoy a calm canine sibling who respects his vibe. Cats, however, are not on Bird’s guest list.

Because Big Bird can be socially quirky and has some unusual play behaviours, he would thrive in a home with children aged 16 years and over.

Big Bird also has moderate hip dysplasia. He has already begun strengthening and conditioning work, and hydrotherapy has been recommended to help support his mobility and comfort long term. His future family should be committed to maintaining his care and helping him stay strong, healthy, and comfortable.
