Bess

After spending most of her life on a working farm, Bess is ready to retire from the hustle and bustle and enjoy the quieter things in life.

Bess came into care with her seven young puppies and has done a wonderful job raising them, but now it's her turn to find a home of her own and be shown the love and comfort she deserves.

Bess is a sensitive soul who can be a little wary of new people and situations. She warms up quickly and can be very sweet and affectionate but she's not exactly a social butterfly and can be a bit awkward at times as she's still learning how to accept cuddles. We think she'd be happiest in a calm, predictable home where she can simply relax and enjoy life.

While Bess has lived around other animals, we feel her ideal home would be one where she doesn't have to share her space with other dogs, cats or young children. She's not a dog park dog and has no interest in a busy social calendar. A peaceful home, a comfortable bed, a secure yard to wander around in, and a human or two to call her own would suit her perfectly.

She is a petite kelpie with lovely lead manners and good toilet etiquette. She can occasionally bark if startled, such as when someone unexpectedly appears in a doorway, but she settles very quickly with reassurance and a calm voice.

Bess is available now on a foster-to-adopt agreement and her adoption will be finalised following desexing at one of our veterinary clinics, where she will also receive a dental scale and clean.

For the first time in her life, Bess is learning what it means to be part of a family rather than simply a farm dog. We think she's earned the right to spend her retirement years warm, comfortable, well-fed and thoroughly spoiled.
