About Ziggy
🐾 Meet Ziggy 🐾
Ziggy is a beautiful girl with a youthful spirit and plenty of spark. She loves people, enjoys a game of fetch, and absolutely lights up around water — swimming, chasing balls and playing with soccer balls are among her favourite things. Around the house she's calm and easy to live with, happiest snoozing nearby after a short daily walk and some quality time with her humans. She's also a clever girl who enjoys enrichment activities and responds really well to food-based training.
One of Ziggy's biggest achievements in foster care has been how much she's grown in confidence. She has now been completely weaned off the anti-anxiety medication she was taking when she first arrived and is thriving, showing just how settled and secure she's become in the right environment.
Ziggy would love a home where someone is around more often than not, as she truly enjoys human company and being included in day-to-day life. She has lovely house manners, is fully housetrained, walks beautifully on lead, travels well in the car and knows her basic commands including sit, stay, come and drop. She enjoys daily walks and sniffing adventures, as well as playing fetch in the yard. While she can be a little dramatic about having her harness put on, she really does enjoy getting out and about once she's on the move.
She's affectionate, playful and loves being close to her people, though she can become excited when greeting visitors and may jump up when she's happy. Around the foster carer's young child she has mostly kept to herself, but due to her size, strength and enthusiastic nature she would be best suited to an adult-only home or one with older teenagers.
When it comes to other dogs, Ziggy has made wonderful progress. Off lead or when walking on a longer lead, she is happy to ignore other dogs and go about her day. On a shorter lead she may bark to let other dogs know she'd prefer a little space, but she has never shown aggression and is not the instigator of conflict. Her foster carer recently took her camping, where she handled the experience beautifully and took everything in her stride, showing just how well she can adapt to new environments.
Ziggy also has a lovely low-shedding coat, but her grooming needs are important to keep in mind — she'll need professional grooming roughly every 10 weeks to keep her looking and feeling her best.
Ziggy is looking for a calm, caring home that will appreciate everything she has to offer. She's the perfect combination of playful and relaxed, always up for an adventure, a game of fetch or a splash in the water before happily settling down beside her people at the end of the day.
