About Thunder
Thunder is a larger-than-average Cavalier with a calm, affectionate nature and a very sweet personality. Compared to some younger Cavaliers, he’s quite mellow and easygoing, happy to spend his time relaxing with his people and soaking up attention.
He’s a loving companion who enjoys cuddles, quiet company and simply being part of daily life. Thunder has the gentle, people-focused temperament Cavaliers are so well known for and forms strong bonds with those around him.
Thunder can be reactive toward other dogs, mainly due to uncertainty, but this should continue to improve with training, confidence building and positive exposures. He will benefit from an owner willing to continue guiding him in these situations.
Like many Cavaliers, Thunder thrives in a home where he’ll receive plenty of companionship and affection. He would suit someone looking for a loyal, low-fuss companion who enjoys both relaxing at home and pottering around with their humans during the day.
Medical notes
Thunder has dry eye, a condition which is common in cavaliers. He requires twice daily medicated eye drops and regular vet checks to discuss any changing medication needs This will be an ongoing care need for his entire life.
Thunder occassionally makes snorting noises when excited due to his short face structure but this doesn't affect his ability to breathe.
Thunder is currently being treated for an ear infection but has been given a long-acting antibiotic treatment and we are hopeful this course of medication will resolve the issue but this may need to be reassessed by your veterinarian.
Adoption details
If you’re interested in adopting, the first step is to submit an application form so we can get a sense of your home, lifestyle and what you’re looking for in a dog. From there, we’ll be in touch with suitable applicants to chat further and, if it sounds like a good match, arrange a meet and greet.
Meet and greets give everyone the chance to get to know each other and make sure it’s the right fit. If all goes well, we’ll move ahead with finalising the adoption and arranging a time for your new dog to head home.
All of our dogs are desexed, vaccinated, microchipped and brought up to date with parasite prevention prior to rehoming.
Our adoption fees help cover the cost of this veterinary care, as well as any additional treatment a dog may need while in our care. They also play an essential role in our wider non-profit rescue work as any remaining funds go directly toward feeding and caring for the many rescued and rehabilitated farmed animals at our sanctuary, allowing us to continue rescuing and supporting animals in need.
By adopting, you’re not only giving a dog a home- you’re also helping us provide ongoing care for hundreds of rescued animals who call our sanctuary home.
