Alfie has a variety of favorite activities that he enjoys immensely. He loves nothing more than the thrill of chasing after a tossed ball. Walking is another activity he relishes, as it allows him to explore the world around him while staying close to his human companions. Alfie also delights in zooming around and engaging in playful antics with other dogs, demonstrating his social nature. Wrestling with his canine foster friend Clover is another favorite pastime, as is snuggling on laps, where he can bask in the warmth and affection of his human friends. Whether he’s curled up to watch TV on a seat, his bed, or nestled on your knee, Alfie is content as long as he’s close to his loved ones. He also enjoys being picked up and cuddled, and surprisingly, he finds joy in having a shower or bath, appreciating the feeling of being clean.
Alfie’s love for human company is unparalleled. He is happiest when sitting right next to someone, soaking up the affection and attention they provide. His affectionate nature makes him a perfect companion for families, especially those with children as he adores them.
In terms of obedience, Alfie displays some basic skills and responds well to familiar routines. However, supervision is still necessary, particularly when it comes to toileting and setting boundaries. He benefits from consistent reminders and a structured environment, continued reinforcement and a consistent routine, particularly during wet weather when he is reluctant to venture outside.
Alfie is quite social with other dogs and enjoys engaging in playful interactions such as running, often referred to as “zoomies,” and gentle wrestling. However, he has a tendency to seek out other dogs’ food, so supervision during mealtimes is essential if living with another dog
Alfie is able to be left alone at home if he has inside access but prefers the company of people. If left inside he will need restricted access as he may toilet inside if weather is unfavourable. He thrives when surrounded by loved ones and can become unsettled when left alone initially, though he does eventually settle down after some time.
Alfie, although small, needs a secure yard with adequate fencing. He did take the opportunity to climb up on a tall pot stand and escape over a fence so families will need to make sure there is no such structure near a fence
In terms of hygiene, Alfie enjoys being clean and is content having showers or baths.
One of Alfie’s dislikes is going outside in the rain or on wet ground. He is not fond of wet weather, which can make toileting a challenge unless he has an undercover area to toilet. Alfie may hold on and have accidents indoors, so regular supervision is required on rainy days.
Alfie sleeps in a cozy bed in the laundry and has access to move in and out via a dog door. He may cry or scratch at the door when first put to bed but settles after a short time.
Alfie enjoys daily walks, playtime, and energetic bursts of running. He is active but manageable and benefits from regular physical and social stimulation. Inside the home, Alfie is very much an indoor companion and loves being part of family activities. Alfie loves to hump items at time and this is generally an excitement issue
IDEAL HOME
Alfie would thrive in a home where he has companionship, and would love a female playmate of similar size and energy
A family who will both play with and cuddle him would be ideal.
Owners who are happy to continue toilet training and supervision
A secure yard would make Alfie feel right at home. He is a true companion dog who deserves a loving and attentive environment.
Alfie is a deeply loved dog with a joyful personality. In the right home, where he is given attention, structure, and affection, he will make an incredibly loyal and loving companion.
