Meet Stanley!
Stanley came into rescue straight off death row with his siblings, who we named Honey and Buddy. They were abandoned in terrible condition, very underweight and with fleas and worms. They were in great need of that 'OTC TLC' so we stepped up and got to work. We brought the trio into our care, and they're all on their feet now and ready to find their forever homes!
Part baby deer, part oversized cuddle bug, goofy in the most lovable way possible and genuinely doesn’t seem aware of where his legs are at any given moment. Corners? Optional. Personal space? Also optional. He’s wonderful with kids, cats and other dogs, travels beautifully in the car once he’s in, although he prefers emotional support and encouragement before boarding like the distinguished gentleman he is. He already knows to sit and wait patiently for his dinner, even if some of the finer points of “manners” are still a work in progress. He is used to adult and teenage humans who leave the home during the day, and he just hangs out in the yard or on the patio with the other dogs.
Stanley’s favourite thing in the world is love. He wants to be near you, leaning on you, curled up beside you, soaking up every bit of affection he can get. He has the sweetest nature and the kind of face that makes it very hard to stay annoyed at him if he stole your shoes... Stanley is the kind of dog who brings chaos, laughter and so much love into a home all at once. A little goofy, a little cheeky and completely impossible not to adore.
Stanley is a gentle, affectionate boy who can be a little shy at first, but once he knows he’s safe, he bonds deeply with his people. He’s loyal, soft natured, and a great companion. He currently lives with two other dogs in a busy household and fits in beautifully. Stanley is very social with other dogs and thrives with canine companionship. His ideal home must have another friendly, playful dog to help him feel secure and confident. This isn’t optional as Buddy won't cope well as an only dog.
Stanley would suit a home that understands sensitive dogs and can offer routine, reassurance, secure fencing, and plenty of companionship, both human and canine.
If you’re looking for a friendly companion with a sweet temperament, and a huge heart who just wants to be your best friend, Stanley might just be the missing piece your family has been waiting for!
Medical notes
Stanley is currently on 20mg fluoxetine and 100mg Clonidine daily to help him ease through the transitions between being staved and dumped, then impounded, moved to foster carers and eventually moved to an adopting home. These are both very affordable medication commonly prescribed for dogs with his history and temperament.
The intention is he be adopted while medicated, with this treatment continuing by the adopter until he has settled in and the adopter and their vet think he can be weaned off. We will send him off with a few weeks' supply and the vet history so you can ask your clinic for repeat scripts.
