About Tommy
Meet Tommy. A gentle little soul who is still trying to understand that the world can be kind.
He arrived as a stray; no history, no family, no one to tell us what happened to him before he ended up here. But you can see it in his eyes, this little boy has known fear for a very long time.
The shelter has been incredibly hard on Tommy. While other cats slowly adjust, Tommy shrinks further into himself. He hides away whenever he can, freezing in place when people approach, too scared to believe he's safe. We don't know what kind of life taught Tommy to be this afraid of the world. Maybe he was forgotten. Maybe he was hurt. Maybe he simply never had anyone who was patient enough to show him kindness. Whatever his past was, it left him believing that the safest thing he can do is disappear.
Tommy will need a very understanding home, one that knows he may hide for days or even weeks at the beginning. A home that won't expect him to be brave right away. He needs people who understand that healing isn't instant, and that the very best cats are often the ones who take the longest to trust.
Because one day, after enough gentle voices, slow mornings, and quiet love, Tommy may finally realize he doesn't have to be afraid anymore.
And when that day comes, it will mean everything. Come and meet Tommy today.
Tommy is part of our Rescue or Rehome program, where we are committed to finding homes for cats and kittens who simply cannot cope in the shelter environment. If you can open your heart and home to Tommy- or if you're a rescue group able to help - please reach out to us at adoptions@dogshome.com
