About Walter
Walter's journey started in the shelter where he was extremely fearful and overwhelmed. Thankfully, he has since been given the chance to decompress in a loving foster home, and what has emerged is a calm, affectionate boy who absolutely adores human company.
In foster care, Walter has shown himself to be the ultimate lap cat. He is happiest curled up with his person for hours at a time, quietly soaking up companionship. He's not demanding or fussy, just content to be near you, whether you're working from home, reading, or relaxing. In fact, he would be the perfect companion for someone who would love a steady, soothing lap warmer throughout the day.
Walter settled beautifully with people in the home, including during a small gathering, where he confidently moved from lap to lap, enjoying attention from multiple visitors. He is social with humans and finds comfort in gentle, calm interaction.
However, Walter has shown he is not comfortable sharing his space with other animals. In foster care, he was immediately wary of another resident cat and showed clear signs of stress and conflict, particularly around doorways and access to people. Based on his behaviour , and his history including scarring and a torn ear, it is likely he has had difficult encounters with other animals in the past, and he would prefer to be the only pet in the home.
Walter will thrive in a quiet, stable environment where he can feel safe and secure, without the pressure of other animals. In the right home, he is an incredibly easy-going, affectionate companion who simply wants hours of love, comfort, and closeness.
If you're looking for a devoted lap cat who will quietly and consistently choose you, Walter is ready to be your constant little shadow.
Walter is part of our Rescue or Rehome program, where we are committed to finding homes for cats and kittens who simply cannot cope in the shelter environment. If you can open your heart and home to Walter - or if you're a rescue group able to help - please reach out to us at adoptions@dogshome.com
