About Sirius
Sirius arrived at the shelter after being left behind and is currently feeling overwhelmed in the busy environment. At present, he is showing a moderate level of stress, which is understandable given everything he has been through. Despite this, he already shows lovely underlying affiliative behaviours that hint at the affectionate cat he truly is underneath his worries.
When first meeting new people, Sirius can show some hesitation and conflict in his interactions while trust is being built. However, he is a smart boy and recovers quickly, especially when food is involved, he is highly food-motivated and responds very positively to treats and simple training games like targeting.
Once Sirius begins to feel safe and a relationship is established, he actively seeks out interaction, shows clear enjoyment of gentle patting, and becomes much more confident in his behaviour. He genuinely enjoys connection, he just needs time and reassurance to get there.
We suspect Sirius will come out of his shell when he enters a calm, predictable home environment with gentle adopters who can give him space, patience, and routine. With time, stability, and kindness, Sirius has all the signs of a cat who will truly flourish and show his affectionate, loving nature.
Sirius is part of our Rescue or Rehome program, where we are committed to finding homes for cats and kittens who simply cannot cope in the shelter environment. If you can open your heart and home to Sirius - or if you're a rescue group able to help - please reach out to us at adoptions@dogshome.com
