Bucky

Bucky is a handsome, 2 year old American Staffy who is looking for a fresh start. He came to the shelter as a surrender because his previous owner had to move and sadly couldn't take him along. Despite the big change in his life, Bucky has remained an incredibly friendly and upbeat boy who absolutely loves meeting people. He is also highly motivated by treats, which makes him an absolute dream to train and a quick learner.

Bucky is a young staffy with plenty of natural energy, but he currently requires a special home environment. He is recovering from a broken paw, which means his new family will need to help him keep his energy low for the time being. It is crucial that he does not run around too much or roughhouse while his paw finishes healing. His future owners will need to focus on mental enrichment, like puzzle toys and gentle sniffing games, to keep his active mind busy without stressing his injury.

Because of his current recovery needs and his specific personality traits, Bucky has a few requirements for his perfect match.

He is suitable to go home only with high school aged children who can understand his physical limitations and help keep him calm. Additionally, Bucky has a fear of storms and fireworks. He will need a family who can provide a safe, secure, and comforting indoor space where he can feel protected when the weather gets rough or during celebrations.

Bucky may be able to live with another dog, but they would need to be very well-matched. Any potential canine housemate must respect his need to rest and not tempt him into running or playing while his paw mends.
