About Peanut
# Peanut – 6 Years Old | Brisbane North
If you're looking for a best friend who will adore you with his whole heart, Peanut may be the little dog you've been waiting for.
Peanut is a gorgeous 6-year-old Dachshund with a huge personality packed into a small body. He is funny, affectionate, incredibly loyal, and happiest when he's by the side of the person he loves most. Whether it's a walk, a coffee outing, a beach adventure, or simply relaxing at home, Peanut's favourite place is wherever you are.
Like many Dachshunds, Peanut takes a little time to warm up to new people and unfamiliar dogs. Once he feels safe, however, his sweet and cheeky nature shines through. He forms deep bonds with his humans and will reward your patience with unwavering devotion and companionship.
Peanut would love a calm adult home where he can enjoy being the centre of someone's world. He generally gets along best with gentle, respectful dogs who give him space, particularly other Dachshunds or older dogs. Interestingly, he is much more relaxed around other dogs when enjoying off-lead time at the beach or park.
One of the most important things to know about Peanut is that he struggles when left alone. He experiences separation anxiety and becomes distressed when separated from his chosen person. Because of this, he is searching for a home where someone is around most of the time—perhaps a retiree, someone who works from home, or a person who enjoys taking their canine companion along on daily outings.
Peanut is also a very clever little character. He is highly food motivated and remarkably resourceful when treats are involved! Benches, bags, tables—if food is within reach, Peanut will do his best to investigate. He's surprisingly athletic too and can jump much higher than you might expect from a Dachshund.
At bedtime, Peanut is happy either curled up safely in his crate or snuggled close to his people. He knows his commands, responds beautifully to gentle guidance, and thrives when given kindness, routine, and reassurance.
Peanut isn't searching for a perfect home. He's searching for the right person—someone who understands that the best companions sometimes come with a few quirks. In return, you'll gain a loyal shadow, a constant source of laughter, and a little dog who will love you with everything he has.
