About Buddy
Meet Buddy, a 7 year old Kelpie with a gentle heart, a thoughtful nature, and just the tiniest hint of "I am still figuring things out, thank you very much."
Buddy came into our care without much known about his past, including something very important: his name. So we've given him one that suits him perfectly. Buddy. Because that is exactly what he wants to be for someone. A loyal sidekick. A quiet shadow. A best friend.
Like many Kelpies, Buddy is intelligent, observant, and always switched on to the world around him. Even at 7 years old, he still carries that classic working breed spark. He notices everything, thinks deeply about everything, and very much enjoys having a job to do, even if that job is simply "be near my person and make good life choices." He is super sweet and affectionate, though sometimes a little unsure when faced with new situations. In those moments, he just needs a bit of reassurance and time to take things at his own pace. Once he feels comfortable, his gentle and loving personality shines through beautifully.
Buddy is still an active boy at heart and will need a home that understands the Kelpie mindset. This is not a dog who retires quietly into the background just because he's getting older. He still needs regular exercise, mental stimulation, enrichment, and the chance to use his brain as much as his legs. A tired Kelpie is a good Kelpie, and Buddy will thrive in a home that embraces that truth.
He could live with children aged 12 and over who understand giving dogs space when needed, and he may be able to live with another well matched dog pending a successful meet and greet. A calm, respectful canine companion could be a lovely match for him.
Buddy is looking for someone patient, kind, and ready to give him the structure and activity he needs, along with the reassurance that he is safe and home for good. In return, you'll get a soft, loyal companion who just wants to belong, follow you through life, and quietly become your best mate in every sense of the word.
Because sometimes the best Buddies are the ones who have been waiting the longest to be found.
Buddy xx
