About Goliath
Meet Goliath - a magnificent 51.1kg South African Boerboel with a giant head, an even bigger heart, and enough presence to make visitors question whether they've accidentally arrived at Jurassic Park.
Originally bred in South Africa as powerful farm guardians, Boerboels are known for their loyalty, intelligence, confidence, and deep devotion to their families - and Goliath is no exception. He takes his job as protector very seriously, but underneath that tough exterior is a smoochy, affectionate goofball who wants nothing more than to be close to his people (preferably on the couch... or directly on top of you).
Like many Boerboels, Goliath forms strong bonds with his humans and thrives when included as part of the family. He's smart, observant, and always aware of what's happening around him - especially if snacks are involved. He enjoys having structure, clear boundaries, and people who appreciate the unique personality of guardian breeds.
Goliath is looking for a single-dog household where he can fully relax and enjoy being the centre of attention. While he's making great progress with his training, his future family will need to continue reinforcing calm behaviour and rewarding him for ignoring other dogs out on walks. Boerboels are naturally protective and powerful dogs, so ongoing guidance and confident handling will help him continue to succeed.
Because of his size and enthusiasm, Goliath would best suit a home with primary school-aged children or older who are comfortable around large dogs and understand that sometimes 51.1kg of excitement can accidentally resemble a small wrecking ball.
Goliath's hobbies include:
Supervising everything
Leaning his full body weight against you for affection
Patrols around the yard like a highly trained security professional
Pretending he's a lap dog
Dramatic sighing when ignored
If you're familiar with guardian breeds - or ready to welcome a loyal shadow who will love you with his whole enormous being - Goliath could be your perfect match.
