Tater

Tater is a young Shar Pei with a gentle nature and a great deal of potential. He entered care with his brother and has found the transition into a new environment challenging, but he is gradually learning to trust and settle. Once he feels safe, Tater enjoys staying close to his people and relaxing with calm, reassuring company.

Tater missed out on some early socialisation, which means he can be unsure in unfamiliar situations and around new people. He will require a patient adopter committed to positive‑reinforcement training to help him continue building confidence. He currently knows how to sit and is ready to learn additional skills with patient, consistent guidance!

A calm home where Tater is welcomed indoors as part of the family will suit him best. He enjoys enrichment activities such as snuffle mats and slow feeders, which allow him to decompress through scent work. Tater is still learning how to engage with toys; he will chase them but is not yet sure how to continue play.

At this stage, Tater is best suited to being the only dog in the home as he can be overwhelmed by them. With time and positive experiences, he may build confidence around other dogs.

He can live with calm, gentle older children, and a meet‑and‑greet with the whole family at the time of adoption will be required to ensure compatibility.

Tater will thrive in a patient, structured, and supportive home. With the right guidance, he has the potential to grow into a confident, devoted, and loving family companion.
