About Tia
🏴☠️ Ahoy there! Meet Tia – the one-eyed pirate queen searching for her forever crew! 🏴☠️
Named after the iconic pirate mystic from Pirates of the Caribbean, little Tia clearly took her role very seriously… because apparently she was committed to the pirate aesthetic from day one. And honestly? She wears it well.
At just 4 months old, Tia has already survived more than most cats do in a lifetime. She was found living outside a house alongside at least 30 other cats, where resources, safety, and medical care were sadly in short supply. When rescuers spotted her with a severely infected eye, it became mission critical to get her trapped and into care ASAP.
Naturally, we prepared ourselves for a frightened, shut-down kitten who would need months of rehabilitation and trust-building.
Tia had other plans.
Amazingly, on arrival she showed she was absolutely relaxed and was purring in our laps within the hour! Tia hasn’t stopped purring since!
She’s had her sore eye removed but it doesn’t dampen her spirits. She loves to play, purr, snuggle and run just like any other kitten. She’s fine with kids, cats and dogs so just about any home would suit her! The only thing is that she needs to be 100% indoor only with no access to a balcony. Because she has one eye, her depth perception can sometimes be a little off, meaning she may misjudge jumps in risky areas and accidentally hurt herself. Inside the safety of a secure home though? She navigates beautifully and lives life to the absolute fullest.
Tia does not see herself as “different,” and honestly, neither do we. She’s funny, affectionate, playful, brave, and endlessly loving, just with a little extra pirate flair.
So if you’ve been searching for a tiny first mate who will fill your home with purrs, chaos, cuddles, and possibly mild mutiny… Tia is ready to board your ship. 🖤

ADOPTION PROCESS:
1. An Adoption enquiry should be made via
https://form.jotform.com/shellys.place.rescue/adoption-enquiry
2. Once your application has been received, one of our volunteers will contact you for a phone interview. This is to determine whether one of our cats or kittens will be a good fit for your home. We all want long-term success in placing rescue animals, so finding the best fit for the animal AND the family is very important.
3. 'Meet & Greet' with the animal and their carer will then take place if the application is approved.
4. A property check will take place via a video. Once this has been successfully completed, adoption paperwork finalised and the adoption donation processed, the pet can be collected from foster care.
5. A 14 day settling-in period commences once the animal has been collected from foster care.
6. Adoption is finalised after 14 days. Paperwork/records will be included in an adoption pack.
7. All animals will be rehomed desexed, 1st vaccinated, microchipped and treated monthly for fleas and intestinal worms. Once the adoption is finalised, the new owners are responsible for all vaccinations and preventative treatments.
As we are run entirely of volunteers we endeavour to respond to your enquiry as soon as we can. Your patience is greatly appreciated.
PLEASE NOTE: We are unable to hold any animals. Please only apply if you are ready to adopt now.
