About Poppy
Meet Poppy, a sweet American Staffy with a heart of gold. Weighing around 20kg and estimated to be about 3 years old, Poppy may not come with a detailed history, but she's ready to write a beautiful new chapter with a loving and patient family. Despite her initial nerves and wariness of new surroundings, Poppy displays a genuine desire for human affection, seeking pats and scratches once she begins to feel more comfortable.
Poppy is experiencing some anxiety in her current environment, and her reactivity to other dogs suggests that she would benefit from having her own space to feel secure and decompress. This lovely lady appreciates a quiet environment where she can gradually build her confidence and trust. While she isn't quite ready to engage with toys just yet, she loves a tasty treat and is eager to form a bond with her human companions.
With a little patience and stability, Poppy has the potential to truly thrive. Her ideal new family would offer a gentle and peaceful atmosphere, allowing her time to adjust and flourish at her own pace. Due to her tendency to jump up and her being untested with cats and children, a home without young kids would be most suitable until she feels more secure.
Poppy is eager to find a forever family that can provide her with the care and love she deserves. With consistent guidance and understanding, Poppy will become a loyal and cherished companion, proving that her sweet and affectionate nature was worth the wait.

Adoption details
The adoption fee for all animals is $79 + all veterinary costs which are determined once your animal is booked in for desexing and will be discussed with you at that time.
We encourage potential adopters to meet specific animals. If you already have a dog and wish to adopt another, we require a 'Meet and Greet' session at the facility to ensure compatibility. Please contact us to make an appointment.
All animals adopted from our facility come:
• Desexed
• Vaccinated
• Microchipped
• Vet-checked
• Lifetime registered in NSW
Please note that desexing (if required) is only performed after adoption, which may result in a delay in taking your new pet home, depending on vet availability. Staff will contact you once an appointment is booked, we kindly ask that you personally collect your new pet from the vet clinic to ensure they can begin their recovery comfortably in their new home.
For enquiries or to meet or adopt, please visit our website https://newcastle.nsw.gov.au/living/pets-and-animals/lost-and-found/lost-pets-in-ranger-care/animal-rescue-enquiry. Please provide the impound number listed next to the animal's name when enquiring.
For foster enquiries we will refer to one of our rescue partners where processes and approvals are at their discretion, please enquire to discuss further.
We do not offer trial periods for adoptions. Unless surrendered and the history is known, dogs in our care have not been tested with cats, so adopters should consider this carefully if there are cats in the household.
