Kit

Kit is a very loved boy and needs to go to the right home🏡

Personality - active, loving, enjoys cuddles and attention, can be reactive (barking, jumping up) in new situations or when meeting new people but settles quickly.

Kit has a high prey drive , so his recall is not the best!

He is very food motivated as well as very affectionate and enjoys playing fetch.

Kit loves the dog park and the beach.

He socialises well with other dogs and is walked in a harness usually, but also good on lead with harness or collar. He will sometimes pull a little bit at the beginning of the walk but settles quickly.

Kit travels well in the car.

His bad habits are: he gets excited when animals come on TV, sometimes mouths people when excited but doesn’t bite and barks loudly when strangers come on the property .

He was crate trained as a youngster and now sleeps on his dog bed in the bedroom.

Kit is looking for a new home, as not suited on farm as he has been bitten by 2 snakes :(

He fully recovered after receiving emergency antivenin but means he has to be kept inside 24/7 and taken out on a leash when at home. This is a restricted life for such an active breed.

I’d like him to go to a safer environment where he can run and play safely outside.

Kit would do best in a home with active owners who can deal with his reactions and can give him lots of cuddles.

He thrives on affection and attention.

A secure fenced yard is a must and another dog would be a HUGE bonus .

No cats, no small children (he might be a bit too boisterous for them) and he needs to sleep indoors at night (because he is used to it and it stops him getting toads).

He is not worried by storms but loud noises (power tools, tractors) get him a bit anxious . If big dogs play rough with him he gets a bit scared and will run back to his human.

Kit weighs 12 kgs and  is on a fresh food diet - 2 meals daily. He gets Big Dog probiotic powder in his evening meal. His diet should be adhered to (otherwise he has terrible gas).

He had his teeth scaled and polished April 2026.

Overall, he is an intensely loyal, loving little dog with a big character and we will miss him, but he needs more (secure) freedom.

⚠️ ASSISTED REHOMING ⚠️

This is an assisted rehoming which means that Animals In Need Brisbane (AINB) will advertise, contact applicants and pass on applications that meet the the criteria to the owner who will make the final decision on the rehoming of the animal. AINB may also be requested to undertake an inspection of the successful applicants property to confirm safety and suitability.

There is no adoption fee for assisted rehomings but we do ask for a donation (amount of their choosing) from the successful applicant  to AINB,  in recognition of the administrative and time costs incurred..
