Meet Trixie – Waiting Since January for a Family to Call Her Own 🧡
After spending many long months in kennels, watching other dogs leave for their forever homes, Trixie is finally in foster care where she now has plenty of room to run, explore and sniff to her heart’s content.
Being in foster care has given us the opportunity to see even more of Trixie’s beautiful personality. Her absolute favourite things are cuddles and belly rubs, and she loves nothing more than spending time with her people and soaking up affection.
Trixie adores her baths and loves splashing around in her dog pool. She has had obedience training and knows her basic commands including sit, stay, wait and here. Mention the words “get up” and she will happily jump into the ute, ready to join you for a car ride and a new adventure.
Trixie is looking for a home where she can be the only dog and enjoy having her special person all to herself. We believe she would be particularly well suited to a single person looking for a loyal and affectionate companion to share their everyday life with. Someone who has experience with German Shepherds or larger breeds and can provide calm leadership, routine and companionship would be ideal.
While Trixie has previously been accustomed to living primarily outdoors, we would love to see her become a true companion and an important part of someone's everyday life. After waiting for so long, she deserves to know the comfort of a warm bed, regular adventures, plenty of affection and the security of knowing she finally belongs.
There is something particularly heartbreaking about watching a dog wait month after month while others are chosen. Trixie doesn't need a complicated life or a perfect home. She simply needs one special person to give her a chance.
Trixie is currently available for adoption in NSW, ACT, Queensland and Victoria, If you live in Queensland or Victoria, you can be considered, however you will need to be able to drive with your family to meet her. If for any reason she doesn't fit your family you will be responsible for bringing her back to Willow Tree.

Adoption details
We have an Adoptions Manager who screens all prospective candidates as to their suitability to adopt a German Shepherd Dog.
We try to contact every one by phone but if that isn't successful we will email our application form to you, which needs to be completed and returned, or you can call us back and we can chat and complete for you. We will also ask you to provide photos of your yard and fencing to enable us to see where the dog will be kept and that they have areas of shade and shelter.
All our dogs are ready to go to their new home, so when you enquire about a dog you must be in a position to take them into your home. We are unable to hold a dog while you fix your fences or go on holiday, etc.
The successful candidate who adopts one of our dogs is provided with an information kit, ongoing support, training and advice on all aspects of feeding, training and general assistance to ensure both the new owner and our rescued dog settle into their home.
