About Lilly
Hermes is the kind of cat who takes a little time to trust you, but once you're in her circle, you'll have a loyal shadow and cuddle companion for life.
When Hermes first arrived in foster care, the world felt very overwhelming. She spent her first few days tucked safely behind the bed, quietly observing from a distance while she settled in at her own pace. But with patience, kindness, and gentle encouragement, Hermes slowly began to show her true personality and what a beautiful personality it is.
Now, Hermes greets her foster carer at the door when they come home and happily curls up on laps for affection and cuddles. She has grown from staying in one "safe room" to confidently exploring the whole house, and she absolutely adores being near her favourite people. In true affectionate-cat fashion, she can be a little clingy with the humans she loves most, always wanting to know where you are and happy to soak up attention whenever she can.
Hermes is also playful and entertaining, happily batting around plush toys and amusing herself with little games throughout the day. She's a great eater, uses her litter tray perfectly, and has been a wonderfully well-behaved house guest in foster care.
While Hermes may be shy at first, she has shown that she is capable of building confidence with new people too. If visitors stay long enough, curiosity gets the better of her and she'll often come out to investigate, sometimes even asking guests for pats and attention herself.
Hermes will need a calm, patient home that understands she may need a little adjustment period while she settles in. Giving her the time and space to build trust will be incredibly rewarding, because underneath that initially cautious exterior is an incredibly loving, affectionate, and cuddly cat just waiting to bond deeply with her person.
If you're looking for a sweet companion who will truly choose you as her person, Hermes may just be your perfect match.
Hermes is part of our Rescue or Rehome program, where we are committed to finding homes for cats and kittens who simply cannot cope in the shelter environment. If you can open your heart and home to Hermes - or if you're a rescue group able to help - please reach out to us at adoptions@dogshome.com
