Drover is one of seven beautiful puppies from ARK’s Country Litter, born on 3 March 2026.
His dad is a gorgeous purebred Maremma and his mum is a lovely brown Cattle Dog. Drover is one of the bigger boys in the litter, weighing 6.85 kg on 28 April 2026, and we expect him to grow into a substantial young dog.
Drover is a striking black puppy with beautiful white ticking through his legs, chest and face — a lovely nod to his Cattle Dog heritage.
Despite his size, he is a gentle, soft-natured puppy. His foster mum describes him as a little shy at first, but very affectionate once he feels comfortable. He particularly loves one-on-one cuddles and quiet affection, and has a sweet, thoughtful nature that makes him very easy to love.
Drover is also less rough and boisterous than some of his littermates. While he still enjoys normal puppy play and adventures, he tends to be one of the gentler personalities in the group.
Like all young puppies, Drover is still learning about the world. He will need a home committed to continuing his socialisation, training and positive experiences as he grows. With patience and encouragement, we think he will blossom into a loyal and deeply devoted companion.
Given his Maremma and Cattle Dog heritage, Drover is likely to mature into an intelligent, loyal and capable dog who will thrive with companionship, structure and inclusion in family life. He is not suited to being raised in isolation in the backyard. He will do best in a home where he is treated as part of the family and given the time and guidance he needs to develop into the wonderful dog he is already showing signs of becoming.
Drover will be adopted under ARK’s Deferred Desexing Program, which includes desexing when age appropriate, subject to the terms and conditions of the adoption contract.

Adoption details
Dogs:
(1) The first step is to complete the online adoption application form at https://southerndownsark.com.au/apply-to-adopt/ Please answer all questions and include photos of your yard and fencing.
(2) All applications will be considered by our Adoption Team, following which a "meet and greet" will be offered to the top-ranking applicant.
(3) If the “meet and greet" is successful, the applicant may adopt the dog and take him or her home the same day.
(4) For successful interstate applicants, different arrangements may apply and will be negotiated on a case-by-case basis.
Cats:
