About Buddy - 4 Year Old Jack Russell Terrier
Buddy is a Jack Russell Terrier and weighs in at 7.5 kg.
He is very typical of his breed and is a very energetic, happy boy with a strong desire to play fetch with his ball, chase birds, chase small waves at the beach and lake or just go for a long walk. Buddy is charming and super friendly with a gentle nature that will win you over immediately. He has been comfortable and obedient in all social outings with his foster family
He has very good recall and will come, sit and drop, and is very good on the lead. He enjoys a morning and afternoon walk and is always happy to meet other dogs of all sizes along the way.
He loves the car and travels well where he is secured on the back seat hammock.
A large fenced yard would be ideal for Buddy, to allow him to run and explore and satisfy his urge to hunt. His job before going to bed at night is to survey the boundary fencing for possums etc.
Buddy sleeps inside at night in his bed and is fully house trained. He is in the process of learning the dog door flap but always has access to outside. He happily shares his foster home with a slightly bigger gentle female dog and the occasional visit of a female Border Collie. He loves their company and likes to play chase but would rather not wrestle with them.
He is happy to be bathed in our laundry tub and requires little upkeep other than keeping his toenails trimmed, his teeth healthy and weekly brushing to remove loose hair.
He has not been tested with cats but is fine with the 3yr and 5yr old grandchildren who visit his foster home.
He will make a wonderful watchdog and will give his opinion on loud neighbourhood noises or visitors at the gate. He thrives on keeping company with his humans and can be left at home for short periods with the other dogs but may struggle on his own for long periods. He is not the breed for you if you expect him to sit on the couch all day or left at home alone for long periods of time.
Buddy is in foster care in Valentine (Lake Macquarie), NSW, and is not available for adoption interstate. His adoption fee is $600, and he is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas, ticks and worms, and microchipped.
