Meet Coco & Louie – The Perfect Pair
Some bonds are simply unbreakable, and that’s exactly the case for beautiful Burmese duo Coco and Louie. At 15 and 12 years young, these two have spent their whole lives side by side and cannot imagine life apart. Coco is Louie’s comfort, confidence and constant companion — he always wants to be near her, and together they make the sweetest, most devoted pair.
Both Coco and Louie adore attention and cuddles, with Coco especially loving affection and lap time. They’re gentle, loving companions who are happiest curled up beside their people, soaking in all the pats and company they can get.
Despite being seniors, they still have a playful spark! Wand toys and the laser light are firm favourites, while Louie absolutely loves his ant toy and happily shows off his playful side during playtime.
These two are looking for a calm, quiet home where they can spend their days snoozing in sunny window spots, curled up on a warm lap, or simply enjoying each other’s company. Coco and Louie have zero tolerance for other cats or dogs, so they will need to be the only four-legged members of the household.

Medical notes
Louie had a tiny lump (around 2 mm) above his left eye that was surgically removed. The laboratory results showed it was a low-grade mast cell tumour, which is a type of skin lump that can occur in cats.
The good news is that the lump was completely removed, with clear margins, meaning there is no evidence that any of the tumour was left behind. In many cases like Louie's, surgery is all that is needed and cats go on to live happy, healthy lives.
As with any cat who has had a skin lump removed, it's a good idea to keep an eye out for any new lumps or bumps during regular grooming and have them checked by your veterinarian if they appear. This is simply a sensible precaution and part of routine health care.
Diabetes (Currently in Remission)
As part of his senior health check, Louie had routine blood and urine tests that showed he had diabetes. He was treated with insulin injections and transitioned onto a prescription diabetic diet to help manage his condition.
The great news is that Louie responded so well to treatment that his diabetes went into remission, meaning he no longer needs insulin injections. Follow-up blood tests have shown that his blood sugar levels have remained within the normal range.
While many cats remain in remission for a long time, there is a chance that Louie's diabetes could return in the future. If this were to happen, he may need treatment again. For this reason, his new family should be happy to keep up with his regular veterinary check-ups and seek advice if they notice any changes in his health, such as increased thirst, increased urination, or weight loss.
At present, Louie does not require any further treatment for the lump or diabetes.

Adoption details
Simply note the ID number and the cats name and visit our hostel at 200 Elder Street in Greensborough. Alternatively you can call the hostel on 8457 6500. We are currently open Mon-Fri 10am-4pm / Sat-Sun 10am-3pm.
You should bring proof of your current address and preferably photo identification such as your driving license. You can only adopt a cat for yourself we do not allow animals to leave with third parties. If you are wishing to adopt a cat as a present for someone, bring them with you as cats are individuals and bond with different people in different ways, the cat you may choose, may not choose your friend! It is also important to allocate time for adoption and we recommend you allow at least a couple of hours to get to know the cat and do the necessary paperwork.
When you visit you will get to meet the cat and as this is a very important decision for both you and the cat you choose we will want to ensure the two of you are compatible and that you understand what will be involved in taking the cat into your home.
We will want to be satisfied that you are prepared to be a responsible pet owner. Responsible pet owners at the most basic level, have their pets registered, micro-chipped and de-sexed unless they are registered breeders. They also understand the issues involved in being able to properly care and take responsibility for the welfare of their pets. Most Councils in Victoria have limits on the numbers of cats you may own without a permit. It is important to check with your Council if you already own the limit and obtain a permit for the extra cat before adoption. We will require to see your permit.
