About Isla – The Velvet Paw Dictator
Meet Isla, a gorgeous 2-year-old female cat who channels major Princess Fiona from Shrek energy — but the version who stayed a princess.
Regal, beautiful, and completely aware she’s a catch, Isla is loving and affectionate when she’s in the mood… but it’s always on her terms, just like Fiona. One moment she’ll grace you with headbutts, luxurious chin scratches, and deep rumbling purrs that make you feel like the chosen one in her kingdom. The next? She’ll deliver that fierce, sassy “I will end you” slow blink and strut off like the queen she is.
She’s independent, clever, and full of personality — never a boring lap cat, but a true fairy-tale companion with a mischievous streak. Cross her (late dinner, closed doors, or moving her from the warm sunbeam) and you’ll get the full Fiona treatment: dramatic sighs, cranky meows, and the legendary tail-flick of disapproval. But win her respect and you’ll have a loyal, entertaining princess who makes every day feel like an adventure.
A little about her story:
Rescued as a stray, Isla previously lived with two adults, two primary school-aged children, and a German Shepherd. She handled the adults and dog just fine, but the kids were too much chaos for her royal sensibilities — which is why she’s looking for her perfect forever kingdom. In the right calm, child-free home, her affectionate side is expected to shine even brighter.
Isla’s Royal Lifestyle
This princess is happiest ruling her domain: patrolling the garden like Fiona exploring the swamp, sunbathing like it’s her full-time job, and napping regally in plant pots (her favourite throne spots). She’s an excellent hunter — specialising in “rescuing” colourful plastic balls from the neighbour’s ball pit and proudly bringing them home as colourful gifts for her humans.
Her favourite things include:
Feasting like royalty (she takes her meals very seriously)
Outdoor adventures and exploring her territory
Collecting treasures (those plastic balls are her version of Shrek’s swamp souvenirs)
Occasional, on-her-terms pats and cuddles that feel extra special because she chose to give them
Isla is low-maintenance but high-reward. She doesn’t need constant attention or entertainment — just respect, good food, sunny windows (or safe outdoor access), and someone who appreciates her sassy, independent spirit.
Perfect for:
Young professionals or couples who want a fun, low-key but loving companion. Someone who enjoys coming home to a cat with personality — a little Fiona sass mixed with genuine affection — and who will laugh at her dramatic moments instead of being offended by them. She’ll be the entertaining boss of the house and your personal stress-reliever after a long day.
Not suitable for:
Homes with young children or older adults who are looking for a constant cuddly lap cat.
If you’re ready to share your home with a beautiful, cheeky, sun-worshipping feline princess who brings gifts, rules with sass, and gives affection like rare treasure… Isla could be your perfect match.
She’s desexed, vaccinated, microchipped, and ready to claim her new throne in a peaceful, adults-only castle.

About Us
Urban Feline Australia is a small, independent cat rescue dedicated to saving surrendered cats from kill shelters and finding them loving, permanent homes.
Founded and run by a passionate animal lover with the support of dedicated friends and volunteers, we specialise in caring for cats that have previously lived in family homes but, for various reasons, can no longer stay with their owners.
Since our inception, we have been fortunate to build a small but dedicated network of volunteer foster carers. These compassionate individuals welcome the surrendered cats into their homes, providing them with love, care, and a safe environment while we search for their perfect forever families.
As a tiny, grassroots rescue with no government funding or large facilities, every rescue is powered by compassion, community support, and a genuine commitment to animal welfare.
All adoption fees and donations go directly toward the essential needs of the cats in our care — including premium food, veterinary treatment, litter, equipment, and ongoing medical support. We rely heavily on the generosity of our foster carers, volunteers, and supporters to continue our work.
Our long-term vision is to expand so we can help even more cats in need. This includes securing a larger dedicated property and, one day, possibly opening a cat café to raise awareness and funds while creating a welcoming space for cat lovers.
How You Can Help
As a small, independent rescue, we depend entirely on the kindness and generosity of our supporters and animal lovers like you. Following and sharing our pages helps us reach more potential adopters and supporters. If we can grow our audience, we’ll be able to generate a small ongoing income to sustain and expand the rescue.
We are always in need of foster carers. If you have a safe, loving temporary home and would like to help us care for a cat on their journey to their forever family, please get in touch. The more foster homes we have, the more cats we can save.

Adoption details
We try to make things very easy and straight forward while at the same time making sure we are matching the right cat to the right home.
The first step in the adoption process is a quick chat over the phone to make you are able meet the cats needs and your home is a good fit for the cats personality.
From there we will organize a meet and greet the cats foster home where you will be able to see the cat in action and get a gauge of their personality.
Once you have adopted you new furry feline friend we offer ongoing support and you are welcome to contact us anytime if you have questions, concerns or need advice.
We work hard to make sure that each cat is a good fit for their new home but in the unlikely even that things do not work out we have a 21 day cooling off period and you are more than welcome to return the cat to us during that time.
We will happily refund 50% of the adoption fee or you are welcome to donate this refund to assist with the ongoing cost of the animals care.
