About Fanny
Fanny… ungrateful… liceface… found on doorstep and nearly died… this pigeon goes by many names!
Fanny was only a few weeks old when someone noticed him looking very out of place at their door! The clock was already ticking with fanny being a gorgeous Indian fantail pigeon- who are domesticated and do not last long outdoors. And that was even before we discovered they had already been subject to predation.
It was not good news: Fanny had sustained several deep wounds all over their body, including two particularly concerning ones on their eye and abdomen, and on top of all of this was riddled with lice!
Fanny was so weak he couldn’t even stand and we were worried he was going to pass away. 🙁
In spite of the odds, Fanny was stabilised, but it would be a while until he was out of the woods yet. Fanny had no interest in food still and was having trouble keeping any down. Given the context, it was very likely Fanny had become septic.
However, pigeons are very resilient animals. Fanny had a spark in his eyes and even whilst not eating, was up and walking around to slap people with his wings! Hence the nickname ungrateful.
So we did everything we could to get him to the other side!!! Slowly but surely Fanny began to rapidly improve and had started eating and going in the right direction 💪 Unfortunately Fanny’s injured eye was damaged beyond repair and they are now blind in it. But this is not a big problem for Fanny!
It has been a few months now, and Fanny is brighter than ever and looking for their forever home. Fanny would like to be a companion bird indoors, or with another friend in a relaxed environment.
Medical notes
Blind in one eye - minimal adjustments needed. Please reach out for more info!
