About Amber
Amber is a gorgeous young lady who is still discovering just how good the indoor life can be. Until very recently, Amber lived on the streets, so adjusting to being an indoor-only cat has been a big change for her. Like many cats who haven’t had the stability of a home before, it took her a little while to settle in and feel safe. But with time, routine and plenty of tasty treats, she has started to embrace her new lifestyle, and now she absolutely LOVES the comfort and routine of indoor living.
One thing Amber has always been certain about is food. This girl is very food motivated and can be a little bit of a piglet. She loves meal time and will happily try to help herself to her foster siblings' dinners too, even after polishing off her own. She's very petite so we often wonder where it all goes.
For a young adult cat, Amber is also quite playful. She can entertain herself for hours batting around ping pong balls, toy mice and random toys, happily zooming around and making her own fun. She's the kind of cat who doesn't need constant attention to stay entertained. She also loves being up high in a cat tree or tower.
Amber is an incredibly smoochy girl who enjoys pats. She will occasionally lean in for cuddles and attention, but she's also very good at politely letting you know when she's had enough. As she continues adjusting to domesticated life, we expect her confidence with affection and handling will continue to grow. She's already come such a long way in a short amount of time.
She's also shown a strong interest in befriending her foster cat companions, although unfortunately the feeling has not been mutual (they're a bit cliquey). Because of this, we think Amber would enjoy a feline friend with the right personality and slow introductions. She was also found among a stray cat colony, which perhaps explains why she's so interested in getting to know other cats.
Amber is looking for a patient and understanding family who will appreciate just how far she has come and continue helping her discover how wonderful indoor life can be. In return, she’ll provide endless entertainment, affectionate brushes by your leg at meal times and plenty of personality.
Medical notes
Amber is currently taking daily clomipramine to assist with anxiety and adjusting to her new indoor environment after transitioning from life on the streets. Since being in foster care, she has continued to grow in confidence and settle into domestic life, and OOTW/our partner vet do not anticipate this medication will be required long-term.
Amber is currently receiving this medication and it is intended to be gradually weaned in the short to medium term as she continues to adjust.

Adoption details
All animals adopted through Out of the Woods Rescue are desexed, vaccinated, microchipped, flea/worm treated and health-checked. We aim to match each animal with a home that suits their needs and personality.
Here’s how our adoption process works:
Submit an application – This helps us get to know you, your household and what you're looking for in a pet.
Phone chat – If your application looks like a potential fit, one of our team members will contact you for a casual phone conversation to answer questions and discuss the animal in more detail.
Meet and greet – You’ll meet the animal in their foster home or another agreed location. If everyone agrees it’s a good match, we can proceed to adoption.
Adoption paperwork and payment – Our adoption fees cover desexing, microchipping, vaccination and parasite treatment.
Once adopted, the animal becomes part of your family. We're still here for post-adoption support if you ever need any help.
