About Chase
Chase is a gentle, shy young dog who is ready to flourish in a calm and loving home.
Chase is in foster care in Melbourne and searching for his forever home. He came from the pound with his brother, Chevy, and is still learning that the world can be a safe and kind place.
Once Chase feels safe, he forms a strong bond with his people and loves to stay close by. He is affectionate, gentle, and quietly devoted.
Chase can be unsure around other dogs, particularly larger ones, but with calm, slow introductions he begins to relax and engage. Once comfortable, he enjoys play and a good burst of zoomies.
He has made excellent progress in foster care. Chase learned toilet training very quickly, had only one accident on his first night, and soon worked out how to use the doggy door by following his foster sister. He can feel a little anxious when left initially, but a calm canine companion helps him settle well.
Chase is also discovering how much fun life can be. He enjoys toys, especially smaller balls he can carry easily, and loves bouncing from bed to bed before gathering his treasures into a cosy pile.
Chase recently attended his first obedience class and found it overwhelming at first, but with gentle guidance, patient handling, and plenty of treats, he slowly began to relax. He can still be frightened by barking dogs and remains sensitive to loud noises, raised voices, sudden movements, and fast activity around him. When overwhelmed, he may run and hide. Despite this, he is learning every day. He is practising basic skills such as sit and waiting at mealtimes, is beginning to show more playful behaviour, and is being taught to be gentle when excited. For a young dog, he is also not especially destructive and usually prefers to settle quietly indoors.
Chase will thrive in a calm, patient home with adopters who understand that trust takes time. He needs kindness, gentle guidance, and the chance to build confidence at his own pace.
