About Trixie and Kayla
Trixie and Kayla are two sweet little girls looking for a special home where they can stay together. They came into our care after their owner passed away and have been each other's constant source of comfort ever since. While they're both naturally cautious, they also have a wonderfully fun, affectionate side that shines once they feel safe.
Kayla is the more timid of the two, while Trixie is a little braver and often helps her sister navigate new situations. Both girls need time to trust new people and unfamiliar environments, so they're looking for a patient family who will let them settle at their own pace. They don't need to be pushed through their fears, just given the time and reassurance to work things out for themselves.
Once they know you're one of their people, they're completely different dogs. They become happy, playful little clowns who race around the house, bounce all over the furniture, climb into your lap and enthusiastically demand affection. Watching them blossom into their confident, silly selves is one of the most rewarding parts of getting to know them.
Both girls bark when people come to the door unexpectedly. They respond well when told to stop but they will need guidance with introductions or a safe place to retreat to when visitors arrive.
They have been very social and playful with familiar dogs but we always suggest taking care when making ntroductions to new friends. We've added some videos to this drive file for you to see how happy they can be playing with dogs of all sizes.

These clever girls are talented little escape artists, so they'll need a secure yard with fencing that is both jump-proof and dig-proof while they settle into their new home.
Trixie and Kayla are looking for a kind, understanding home that will give them stability, patience and lots of love to overcome their fears. In return, they’ll provide endless companionship, entertainment and couch cuddles.
We believe Trixie is a jack russel or fox terrier and Kayla appears to be a miniature pinscher type.
