About Jake
*In foster care in Manly, Sydney*
Jake was discovered at three months old in a factory alongside his siblings - all have since found their forever homes. Now six months old, it's his turn!
When Jake arrived in foster care, human touch wasn't something he welcomed. A few months in, he's already seeking it out - but that progress has taken consistency, patience, and positive reinforcement that his foster carer gives daily. Jake now demands human touch with a gentle meow! Oh, and he is quite the purr machine now too!
Jake's trust needs to be earned gradually on his terms but a little secret that Jake would like to share is.... Treats are his kryptonite!! Whilst it may take a little while for his love to really show, he will happily bond in the early days through a tasty treat... or two... or three...
Play is where Jake shows up fully! He loves his solo play, but what he really wants is a human on the other end of a laser pointer or bird-on-a-string. Anything with feathers and he's all in. He also really enjoys watching the birds out the window and following his humans around the house.
Jake has lived with other cats before and genuinely enjoyed the company. A slow introduction is non-negotiable, but a well-matched companion could be a great fit.
Like all Maggie’s pets, Jake is microchipped, desexed, and vaccinated.

MY IDEAL HOME: I'm looking for a calm, stable household where the humans are patient and understand that trust is something I give on my own timeline. I have recently learnt how good snuggles on the couch are. It may take me a little longer than other cats to get there with you, but I promise I am so worth it when you see how good my purrs and biscuit making skills are! I am also a cat who notices everything. I like to be nearby at all times, watching my humans, and will occasionally have a little chat with you. Oh and my forever home will need treats... lot of treats.
I'd suit a single person or couple without children who would enjoy watching me come out of my shell. The quieter your home, the sooner you'll see my full personality.

MY ENERGY LEVEL: Moderate, I'd say. I'll spend a good portion of the day napping, but I'll surface regularly to keep tabs on what's happening. Early evening it's playtime, I bring everything - especially if feathers are involved! I’m very quiet at night and never wake my humans in the morning. I’ll patiently wait outside of the bedroom until they rise and shine :)
MY SUITABILITY TO CHILDREN: I need calm, predictable surroundings to feel safe and build confidence, so a home with adults only will suit me best.
MY SUITABILITY TO CATS AND DOGS: Slow, thoughtful introductions would be essential - but I've lived happily with other cats before and genuinely enjoyed having feline company!

Our foster carer will contact you when we receive your application to arrange a time for you to meet with their foster pet.
We want your adoption through Maggie's to be a good experience so we will occasionally suggest a different cat or dog that may suit your situation better and the needs of the individual pet.
All our pets leave for their new homes on a two-week trial. At the end of the trial, we will transfer the microchip into your name and provide you with the pets vet certificates. Once you receive the Certificate of Identification from council, your adoption will be complete.
Please consider, that a Maggie's Pet is a pet for Life, before adopting.
