About Eli
Hey everybody! My name is Elijah, but everyone calls me Eli.
I may be a miniature shar pei, but I have a big heart and a mighty presence. I haven’t had the greatest start to life, but with the help of Pei and Pals and my foster mum, I’m doing much better now. I've had my entropion surgery and been desexed, but since my entropion was done a bit late, I do have minor blindness. My foster mum says it’s not much at all as I can chase the ball and wander around the house and yard with no worries at all. I don’t bump into anything! I love playing fetch, which I do with ease and one of my favourite things is to play with a tennis ball on my own. I’ll throw and chase it around the house for ages without a problem!
I prefer to have access to both inside and outside. I love sleeping inside with my foster mum, but I also love having a snooze in the sun. My foster mum says I’m a huge snuggle bug, and she even moves me around like a baby. I love tummy rubs and cheek and chin scratches.
I am happy getting toys out of the toy box on my own, even though I have quite happily taken out all those fluffy ones. I love the squeaker on the inside.
I much prefer to be outside when you leave me as unfortunately I do have a bit of separation anxiety due to my rough start in life. I am getting much better with time, patience, training and the help of medication and my foster mum believes that with time and right owner, I will overcome it. I can get a bit over excited when I see you, I’m learning not to jump up at people and I’m getting heaps better at that too.
Like all shar peis I am a little standoffish at first, but once I know you, I’ll follow you everywhere! I am tenacious and have a unique personality that makes my foster mum laugh. I am a people dog so if you love them, I will too. I get a long with my foster brother, even though I give him a bit of grief we still play heaps. I love car rides and I walk really well on the lead. I am still learning basic commands and house etiquette, but I am house trained.
So if you think I could be good fit to your family, please consider me. I’m really excited to see what this next chapter of my life could be like with you.
Medical notes
Eli has completed entropian surgery.
