About Azalea
All About Me and My Unique Personality:
Azalea is a shy kitten that has needed patience and consistency whilst she is adjusting to being in foster care. She has needed a calm environment that is allowing her to build trust. She likes to have multiple hiding spots. She likes caves, tunnels and burrowing under things.
She has liked when we get down on her level, speaking in soft low tones and encouraging her.
She is now able to sit with us on the lounge at night. Today she was feeling safe and secure enough to allow for my daughter to pet her. We are putting lots of energy into her socialisation so that she can have a great life feeling good.
She is confident and energetic with her siblings, plays with toys and scales the cat tower with ease. We have used toys to bridge the distances to engage in play which is helping building her confidence and trust and positive associations with her foster carers.
We have used food and food placement to entice her to be out in the open and involved in .
My Ideal Home:
A safe and secure indoor home, with a family or people who have the capacity to understand that Azalea is shy, she will take time to warm up and feel safe to trust you.
She is interested and curious, but remains reserved in nature.
She is more cautious and quiet, prefers to watch from afar before engaging, and required patience to build confidence.
What is Known About My Background:
She was surrendered to a local pound with her siblings. She is the shyest of her litter. We are not certain why she is more shy. We are focusing on socialisation, engagement, handling, positive interactions and decompress / settling.
How Do I Interact with Kids, Dogs, Cats and Other Pets:
It’s a slow burn. We are giving Azalea the space and times she needs to go at her pace. I believe with patience and routine she will become a lovely kitten.
She is allowing my daughter to pat her.
She is getting more and more attentive and willing to choose to be with us. Happy to sit on the lounge, slow and steady we are marking gains.
