Hello there! I’m Duke, and I’m officially accepting applications for my forever family.
(Duke is a corgi cross with unknown, he weighs in the 20kgs range)

My Ideal Home:
• Familiarity and understanding of my breed traits would be highly valued.
• I’ll need daily exercise — walks, park or beach trips, and playtime in the backyard will keep me happy and healthy.
• I want to be part of the family indoors — not left outside without interaction.
• Secure fencing is essential to keep me safe.
• I’d love plenty of toys and mental enrichment to keep my busy mind occupied.
• A good-quality dry food diet will help support my dental health.
• Regular grooming and brushing are so important to keep me looking and feeling my best.
• Most importantly, I’m looking for lots of love and attention from my family.
• I’m looking for a family who will cherish and care for me throughout my golden years.
• A calm, gentle yet playful dog companion would suit me best, as super boisterous dogs can be annoying to me — although I adore people and would also be perfectly happy as your one and only.
• With a slow and thoughtful introduction, I may be able to live with a gentle, quiet cat.

My Paw-some Perks:
• I’m a playful, happy pup with the cutest little wiggle-butt when I’m excited.
• I’m highly food motivated, which makes training lots of fun and helps me learn quickly.
• I’m gentle and placid in nature, and I’ve had some basic obedience training — I’m generally a well-mannered dog, and I’m always eager to learn more.
• I absolutely love attention, cuddles, hugs, kisses and head scratches, and I’m quite partial to snoozing on the couch with my humans.

Training & Support Needs:
• I’m not housetrained yet, as I haven’t previously been allowed inside, so I’ll need guidance and consistency to learn.
• My recall needs work, as I can sometimes ignore you if I’m distracted — this is something we’ll need to practice together.
• I may react towards other dogs if they’re too full-on or reactive towards me. Controlled, positive socialisation experiences will help me build confidence around all types of dogs.
• I’m currently carrying a little extra weight and would benefit from a healthy diet and regular exercise to help me slim down.
• I’ve never been allowed indoors before, but I would truly love to be included as part of the family and spend time inside with my people.

Please Note: You’ll only be able to meet Duke if your application is approved. Successful applicants will be invited to the shelter for a meet-and-greet, and any dogs currently in the home must attend as well
