Chevy is a young dog who came into rescue from a country pound, surrendered alongside his brother Chase. Prior to entering care, Chevy had very limited handling, and as a result he is still learning that people can be kind, predictable and safe.
At first, Chevy can be hand shy and may become a little mouthy when he’s feeling nervous or unsure. This is not about aggression, but about uncertainty and lack of early guidance. With time, patience and gentle interaction, he is already showing signs of improvement and quiet curiosity.
Chevy is currently living in a home with a number of other dogs and is doing well in that environment, drawing confidence from their presence. He is slowly building trust, learning routines, and discovering what it means to feel secure.
Chevy will need a home that truly understands his background and is willing to meet him where he is. He will thrive with adopters who are prepared to engage with him thoughtfully, allow him to set the pace, and focus on relationship-building rather than expectations. Slow, positive exposure to the wider community and careful, gradual socialisation with people will be key to his progress.
